Chris is down in the bar, at the Bar.
She orders a salad and some lemonade. For a moment she's tempted to get something alcoholic but sensibility wins out. Besides, the Bar is moving slow enough with the orders as it is.
Chris grabs a fork and starts poking at her salad. Maybe she'll actually eat some of it. You can come talk to her if you want, she might actually talk back.

"He's, uh, seeing someone," Chris adds.

"Really?" Unexpected, but interesting. "Who?"

"Her name's Elaine. She's a British woman. From the 12th century," Chris says dryly.
And she's eighteen. Not that Chris has any room to judge anymore.

He pauses a moment. "That kind of thing happens a lot around here, doesn't it?"

"She's been here for several months so he already knows quite a bit about what happens after her lifetime."

His coffee cup finally refills itself. He doesn't notice.

It occurs to him belatedly that he's going to have to stop referring to himself in the present tense. The realization hits him pretty painfully.

She gently puts a hand on his arm.

"I'm, uh, going to go upstairs for a while," he says, keeping his voice level. "I'll talk to you later, okay?"
