"Um... not exactly. It's made of light, basically. I don't know exactly how it works, but you switch it on and off here--" he indicates the thumb-switch-- "and it'll cut through pretty much anything. It's the traditional weapon of... knights, in my world."

*That impresses him* Wow. A sword made of light. That's like something out of stories I used to tell the sheep when I was little. What happens if you touch it? *He is SO easily fascinated by things*

He winces. "It cuts through flesh pretty easily, and burns at the same time. If you're cut with it, you don't bleed because the wound's burnt closed too fast. If you just touched it, it probably wouldn't cut you, but it would burn you. Um. It hurts. I don't recommend it."

"I made it, about a year and a half ago. It's part of becoming a knight. You have to make your own." He shrugs. "And the one my father left to me had been destroyed, so I needed to make a new one anyway."

You MAKE your own glowy light thingy? Out of what? You can't hammer light in a forge. Not even the gods can do that.

"Well, it's..." He bites his lip. "I don't know how it works, exactly. You put a source of light in the bottom, and the light shines through a certain type of crystal, which concentrates it enough to make a blade. That's also what gives it a particular color. Mine is green, but my old one was blue, and I've seen a red one as well."
