The front door slides open, and in hurries Simon Tam.

Once again, he's looking for Roland.

"I think I'm going to sit this one out," he says, a little weakly.

"Eddie? Are you well?" Roland's gravelly voice.

He takes his hand away from his head. No blood. Awesome.

"Yeah, I'm groovy. Copacetic. Just... go on." He lifts his head and looks up at them, wide-eyed concerned faces. Staring at him. "I said go on. Whaddya think this is, a peep show? Go TCB; I'll be waiting when you get back."

Simon glances up at Roland's impassive face, then turns back to Eddie. And stifles his first impulse, because something about Eddie's face tells him that an offer of sympathy isn't likely to go over well.

He lowers his voice. "--listen, if you're going to be here, can I ask you a favor?"

Eddie blinks, rapidly, focusing. "Yeah, sure, what?"

He throws a look at the open door, and speaks rapidly.

"This could turn out to be a trap. I've asked Kaylee to bring River here if something goes wrong, just ... "

Simon bites his lip.

"If that happens. Can you keep an eye on them?"

"Of course," Eddie says seriously. "I'll be right here."

Simon grips Eddie's hand for a moment. "Thanks."

And they're away, and the door closes behind them.
