Jack is in the bar. Due to a note left with the bar earlier, he looks more amused than ever.

He's reading a seed catalogue and making notes about temperate zones. Fascinating.

"Something seems to have amused you," Gil says with a smile. He has a rather self-satisfied smirk of his own.

"Yes," he agrees and kisses Gil hello.

"Probably not the reason why I am amused," he says, still smiling.

"Probably not. Why are you smiling? Though if it's just that life is good, that's enough reason for me."

"Yesterday, a young man here by the name of Connor inadvertedly mentioned something that helped close two cases." A brief sigh. "And time has continued faster than I anticipated back in Las Vegas, so my vacation is over. I'm off tonight, though."

"What did he say?" He combs a hand through Gil's hair affectionately.

"He only confirmed a theory my colleagues and I had concocted, yet it added a dimension we had not considered." Apologetically, "I wish I could share details, but ethically, I can't."

"Very well." He pretends to sulk, then laughs and kisses him again. "I . . . think there is someone here who needs to meet me. Just to expand his horizons."

"Hello! Would you like some strawberry food samples?"

"Oh yes--I love strawberries. Let's see." He eyes the food thoughtfully. "The strawberry cobbler, please? I haven't ever had that, I don't think."

"It's very good, in general." Wolf hands him a dish and a spoon.

Something about this man is very nice-feeling, though. He just seems alive. Wolf likes that.

Jack smells like apple blossoms and carries a feeling around him like being in a meadow. It's just a thing.

"I love strawberries. They're one of my favorites." He takes a bite of the cobbler and closes his eyes in ecstasy. "Oh . . ."

Oh, meadows. Those are very nice. And so are apple blossoms.

It's quite possible that Wolf likes Jack already.

...His reaction to the food might have something to do with that, also.

"You know what this needs," Jack says, covering his mouth so he's not talking with his mouth full. "A little bit of strawberry ice cream."

Wolf beams and provides a little bowl of fresh strawberry ice cream. That he made.

"You mean this?"

"Perfection." He beams and eats another bite.

Puck just blinks.

"Well, it is your vocation, I suppose ..."

"Or my paying job." He grins at him. "How are you?"

"Fair to middling," Puck replies, with an answering grin that suggests he may be in slightly better spirits than that. "It rained last night."

"You're welcome." He beams. He likes the rain.

"Havelock enjoyed it, I believe."

"Good. I'm glad. Rain is very enjoyable. Particularly on bare skin, if you're not prone to colds."

Innuendo? What?

Certainly, innuendo is something which Puck knows nothing about.

"So we found," he says cheerfully. "Were you out to enjoy it?"
