*Ed wanders downstairs and looks around. She doesn't have any of her pets with her today so she would love some company*

George notes the little red-headed girl, and smiles at her.

*Ed looks over and sees the man. She bounces over.*

Hello!

*she smiles*

"Hello there.." he grins, watching her gangly movements.

Ed was looking for someone to talk to, would you like to talk to Ed?

*she smiles*

He blinks - taking a moment to attempt to understand the rather disjointed way she strings her words together. He isn't quite sure if she's referring to herself in the third person, or someone else entirely.

He hazards a guess.

"Is your name Ed, then?" he asks.

Yes, Ed's name is Ed!

*she laughs*

What is your name?

"Ed's an ~~unusual~~ ..interesting name for a girl, isn't it?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.

"My name is George."

Ed picked out the name herself, don't remember my real name. Been going by Edward for too long to change to a girl's name.

Nice to meet you, George.

He grins. "A good name then. Better than a silly girl's name." He teases, winking at her. "When I was younger, I knew a little girl with red hair, and when I met her, she had a boy's name too.."

*Ed giggles*

You knew a little girl with a boy's name?

*her eyes get very wide*

He nods. "Yes. It wasn't her true name though. She was pretending to be a boy, so she changed her name.."

*Ed nods*

Why was she pretending to be a boy?

He's enjoying his role as storyteller.

"Well, where we come from.. little girls are expected to do lady-like things. They're expected to know how to dance and how to sew. This little girl, she didn't want to do those things. She wanted to be a Knight, and go off and have grand adventures.. but girls aren't allowed to do that kind of thing. So, she decided to pretend to be a boy instead.." he explains.

*Ed smiles*

Ed thinks this girl sounds great. Ed wouldn't want to dance and sew. Did the girl become a knight?

He smiles. "Yes. She did. And when she did, she was finally able to tell everyone she was a girl too, though some of us knew it already... I was very, very proud of her.."

I am sure she was proud of herself. Being a nice would be a great job.

*ed beams*

Are you still friends with the knight girl?

"I am. She comes here, to Milliways as well. That's why I came here, in the first place. She went missing, and I came to see if I could find her..."

She does?

*Ed is amazed at this news*

"Her name is Alanna of Trebond. She works for Bar Security." he says. "Now tell me Ed, where do you come from?"

There's a knight on security?

*she grins*

Ed comes from Earth, but Ed has worked on a few ships that have gone to other planets. Ed is a wanderer.

"All on your own?" he asks.

Yes, Ed takes care of Ed. There are jobs on ships and Ed gets a room and food for work... but mostly Ed is by herself.

It troubles him, that one so young has no one looking after her. "Doesn't that get lonely?"

Ed has lots of friends, here.

Old friends from Bebop and new friends. ed doesn't need anybody else. Ed's gotten good at taking care of herself.

"Well, that's good to hear." he says, making a mental note to keep an eye on her as well, when he sees her around the bar..
