*Brian has been painting things. A side effect of this is that he is now blue. Not entirely, sure, but he's pretty damned blue - looks like people've been attacking him with paintbrushes.

Maybe not quite quickly enough.

"Time often slows when one is unhappy."

A pause, and he tilts his head.

"Or when someone we care for is unhappy."

His eyes are distant, for a moment.

He blinks.

Or both?

*his mouth moves into a mockery of a smile*

Raven's smile also twists.

"Of course."

A pause, and his face resumes its normal lines.

"Is it so for you, then, Adam?"

[last_adam]

*He nods, and leans back in his chair.*

Funny how that is, when I'm pretty sure I did the right thing.


I think.

[creator_raven]

Raven shrugs.

"The right thing is often painful. That is why so many fail to do it. So."

[last_adam]

So... I should be proud?

[creator_raven]

"Hardly that. You feel as you do--it is best that way. 'Should' is not a good word to use, for such things. It is--"

He snorts.

"It is stupid."

[last_adam]

*This takes Adam by surprise, and he turns his head a bit, and shakes it, with a slight smile.*

So it's okay that I feel a rotten bugger.

"If you felt like tap-dancing with joy, that would also be acceptable. There are not rules for things--at least not as often as people believe."

Raven smiles, slightly, and shrugs.

[last_adam]

*Adam nods.*

It'll pass, right?

[creator_raven]

Raven nods.

"Yes. Although regret tends to stick, a little. It is not so bad a thing, though."

He smiles, slightly.

[last_adam]

S'so we learn.

[creator_raven]

"Yes. And so we remember. The two are not always the same."

[last_adam]

I suppose they're not.

[creator_raven]

"Things would be simpler if they were. And life would go much more smoothly."

[last_adam]

*Adam chuckles a little.*

And then where would the interest be?

[creator_raven]

Raven laughs, softly.

"Not on earth, for certain. And not in the heavens, either. It is a strange thing."

[last_adam]

So I guess we all just have to take our punches.

[creator_raven]

"That, and practice dodging."

A pause.

"Or learn to hit back."

This last is oddly solemn.
