Wes is sitting in a booth, with a cup of caf, looking vaguely pre-occupied and almost thinking.

There's also a slice of chocolate cake in front of him, which Bar apparently felt the need to give him, and which he glances at every so often, suspiciously.

There is chocolate cake and he's not eating it.

There must be something up.

Lando passes by. He's preoccupied for the most part with things at home, and with oranges. But he nods hello at Wes.

Lando notices what seems to be a faceoff between Janson and the cake.

"There a good reason you aren't eating that? I can name about four hundred men back home who would sell their droids for something like that. And I'm not even sure what you have then, Janson."

"Not if it's as sweet as the other food the Bar's been serving me. These Earthers, they seem to think sugar is a prime ingredient. Maybe they need it for nutrients or something."

Lando sits opposite Wes. "Where's Hobbie?"

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Most pilots are. Especially you spoiled Rogue Squadron types." He smiles.

"You and Hobbie a couple?"

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah. My apologies then." Lando smiles, a bit surprised that Janson would get flustered by so basic a question. "Good to hear you someone. Is Inyri from back home?"

"A woman in Rogue Squadron? Wedge must be getting more intelligent in his old age. I always wondered why he keep it a boys' club.

"I have to wonder, though, who's back home flying in your time if you're all here.

"Pardon me." Lando, having not met the wait-rats yet, goes to the Bar, gets a stim tea, and comes back.

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Lando smiles, and sips his tea. "Sounds like a good approach to take. Me, I suspect that once the course of events starts, it goes, and the rest is incidental. Best to be therew when it starts, of course.

"And better still to not think about it too much. I'm quite happy to let the philosophers and the Jedi delve into the mysteries of the universe. I have enough to think about as it is." There is a bit of a cryptic look on his face, but it passes.

"You Bound to the place?"

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seems to be common - Jaina told me she's Bound as well. But I'm still able to head home. And I don't miss much - maybe an hour or so, or less each time I'm here.

"I don't think I'd mind missing a bit more - they really don't need me for the battle plans right now. And the food here is a hell of a lot better. But I would rather be able to come and go as I wish."

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Jaina left? Without even saying goodbye to her uncle?" He laughs a bit, knowing that she probably said hello to him - the older him - back when she comes from.

"Yes, anything is better than rations. But even beyond the best ale I've had in a year, there are the foods from elsewhere. From Earth especially.

"There is opportunity here, Janson. Things that the man of leisure back home will enjoy, and will spend a fortune on, once the war is truly done. All I need is the right item, and I can set the market on its ear." LAndo gets his gambler's grin.

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never steal ideas, Janson. I sometimes improve on them. But I never steal them. After all, I'm not a thief. Merely a businessman who would much rather tkae his chance with his money than with his life." He gives a sly grin.

"I haven't encountered this Oreo yet. If I promise to let you have the rights to it, will you give em the rundown?"

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah. Food you can play with." Lando tries not to look at Janson funny. It sounds kind of silly. But then he always wondered about the oxygen supply in the X-Wing anyway.

"I'll try it, but it seems a shame to add that much sugar to chocolate."

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, since you found them first, I'll let it to you to figure out the distribution, sales, marketing and manufacture. And it is a big galaxy. So perhaps I'm thinking about too small a market." If anyone could call just Coruscant a small market.

"And have you encountered any other food or drink I should sample, even just for taste rather than sales?"

[identity profile] general-lando.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I'm sure I can manage." And with that Lando gets up.

"Think I'll be heading along. But make sure to get some of those Oreos for me, okay?"
