Wes is sitting in a booth, with a cup of caf, looking vaguely pre-occupied and almost thinking.
There's also a slice of chocolate cake in front of him, which Bar apparently felt the need to give him, and which he glances at every so often, suspiciously.
There is chocolate cake and he's not eating it.
There must be something up.

"There a good reason you aren't eating that? I can name about four hundred men back home who would sell their droids for something like that. And I'm not even sure what you have then, Janson."

He pauses a second, then waves a hand towards it. "You want it instead?"

Lando sits opposite Wes. "Where's Hobbie?"
no subject
He looks thoughtful for a moment, almost worried, then smiles and shrugs. "Still in bed, I guess. Lazy pilot."
no subject
"You and Hobbie a couple?"
no subject
Wes, taking a sip of his caf, chokes and manages to get it all over his shirt. He stares at Lando, then shakes his head. "No," he manages eventually, glancing over at the stairs, "uh, no."
Still looking at the stairs, he rubs at the back of his head, messing his hair up. "Me an' Inyri," he says finally, as if it's an explanation. Which it might be. But Wes doesn't know how.

Wes shakes his head, but not as a negative answer. He smiles ruefully and says, "Yeah, uh, she's in our squadron. Mine and Hobbie's. She's here as well," he adds.

"I have to wonder, though, who's back home flying in your time if you're all here.
"Pardon me." Lando, having not met the wait-rats yet, goes to the Bar, gets a stim tea, and comes back.

Wes watches as Lando goes to the Bar, and shrugs. "Dunno," he says when he gets back, half-smiling, "'s all... weird. Either time doesn't change or there's... alternate 'verse thingy versions of us." Now he looks confused. This always confuses him. "But it works and that's all I know."

"And better still to not think about it too much. I'm quite happy to let the philosophers and the Jedi delve into the mysteries of the universe. I have enough to think about as it is." There is a bit of a cryptic look on his face, but it passes.
"You Bound to the place?"
no subject
He nods. "Yeah, stuck here. Me and Hobs, and so's Inyri now, I think. Not so bad... you?"
no subject
"I don't think I'd mind missing a bit more - they really don't need me for the battle plans right now. And the food here is a hell of a lot better. But I would rather be able to come and go as I wish."
no subject
Wes shrugs, then he grins. "But yeah, the eating and drinking here's a lot better than home. ...I mean, could be cause anything's better than rations, but, y'know."
no subject
"Yes, anything is better than rations. But even beyond the best ale I've had in a year, there are the foods from elsewhere. From Earth especially.
"There is opportunity here, Janson. Things that the man of leisure back home will enjoy, and will spend a fortune on, once the war is truly done. All I need is the right item, and I can set the market on its ear." LAndo gets his gambler's grin.
no subject
He nods, looking round the bar. "Lots of opportunities, yep." Not all of them from Earth. "No surprise you want to take advantage of them!"
no subject
"I haven't encountered this Oreo yet. If I promise to let you have the rights to it, will you give em the rundown?"
no subject
"You've not had Oreos?" He grins. "Missing out, there. Cookies," he tells Lando, "all sugary like the Earth folk like stuff. Kinda chocolatey, with white stuff in the middle. They're reeeally fun to take apart and build towers and stuff with." A pause. "And to eat, of course. You have to try some."
no subject
"I'll try it, but it seems a shame to add that much sugar to chocolate."
no subject
"Might sound weird, but they're really good. They'll be a hit back home, I guarantee it," he adds with a grin.
no subject
"And have you encountered any other food or drink I should sample, even just for taste rather than sales?"
no subject
"Ah... well, maybe not for the taste part, but there's this bright orange drink y'ought to try. Not sure what it's called though." He grins ruefully. "Dunno anything else, except all the chocolate they've got here. All the stuff with sugar..."
no subject
"Think I'll be heading along. But make sure to get some of those Oreos for me, okay?"
