In the stables

Taking a quick lunch break from work, Caspian settles himself on a hay bale and unfolds the sandwich Bar had given him that morning, with a smile. He has hay in his hair, which is promptly rumpled by Corella's nuzzling him to find a carrot.

"This one is mine," he tells her, amused. "I already gave you lunch."

His sandwich finished, he heads into the bar for a quick drink before getting back to work.

Ivy was curled up in a booth with a steaming cup of tea, just listening to the sounds of the bar. She noticed Caspian's color and smiled faintly to herself but didn't move.

"You've been in the stables," she remarked with a contented smile. He made her happy, just by being around, and it showed.

"A king working the in the stables?" Ivy grinned. "It sounds like something out of a fable."

"Perhaps not the king here, but still a king," Ivy corrected. "When shall we go sailing again?"

"More of the same. I have been studying some." Daydreaming. Perhaps pining for home a bit. "I wish that I had something to honestly keep me busy. At home, I had chores and helped care for the children, but here I often feel idle."

"I have not tried," Ivy admitted. "Not since I first arrived." There could be any number of reasons why, but she didn't reveal any of them, not just then.

"What manner of employment do you think I could find?" she asked, changing the subject and her expression abruptly.

"I think perhaps I would enjoy that," Ivy smiled. "What sort of plants grow there?"

"You are good to me," Ivy declared seemingly randomly, sitting up straighter and then leaning forward against the table. "I am beginning to think you might like me." She smiled, coy.

He was suddenly close, and Ivy's breath caught in her throat for a second as she beamed back at him.

"Ah, but you are no mere stableboy," she replied, reaching for one of his hands and threading their fingers together.
