Aeryn is sitting in a booth. She is wearing the same old leather gear, but it looks comfortably rumpled. For once, she isn't doing anything. She isn't drinking or messing around with strange mechanical objects. She's just leaning back, a contented smile on her face. If someone were to get close enough, they might hear her humming a tune, but no, that's crazy talk. She couldn't be that happy. But sure enough, there is a smile on her face.
Has someone slipped her a good mood pill?
The chances of her killing you today are a million to one, come and chat.

"Hello. I am Illyria. Please tell me that you are neither human nor a demon hunter of any type."
no subject
"I am Aeryn Sun."
no subject
"At least I can still tell non-humans apart from the masses of vermin that have taken over my home. Tell me, Aeryn Sun, what world are you from?"
no subject
"Not all humans are like that." A few weeks ago her answer may have been different.
no subject
Illyria considers this, since she isn't quite sure she was born at all. Space and time used to be irrelevant to her kind.
"And perhaps if you had acquired a planet, and humans had stolen it away from you, you would feel differently."
no subject
She had warmed considerably to humans.
"Some of them would be saddened to hear what happened to you."
no subject
Illyria feels that she has conceded quite enough to humans by agreeing not to kill any more of them.
no subject
She smiled reassuringly.
no subject
This reminds Illyria of a question she's been meaning to ask since her arrival.
"What exactly is this place's function? What are we to do here?"
no subject
"Have a drink, meet people, go for a swim."
She sat up straighter.
"I'm not the best person to ask to be honest."
She was still in a bit of a daze, due to a certain human.
no subject
"There is a place to swim here? I have very much missed my connection to the elements. A lone plant offered greetings when I walked in, but the rest of nature seems remarkably absent. Can one go outdoors without getting lost in, well, *that*?"
Illyria points to the universe ending outside.
no subject
"It leads to the lake. But I've heard a shark has appeared."
She felt much more at home in any bar than outside.
"If you don't mind me asking. What are you?"
no subject
Illyria supposed that this didn't mean much in her current state, so she elaborated. "Or, I was, before the humans showed up. Now my consciousness resides in this shell, which once housed a human named Winnifred Burkle. She is gone now."
no subject
She mused.
"A god stuck in a human body, it must be difficult for you."
no subject
"It is difficult. My home world is gone, and the one that exists in its place is so changed that I do not recognize it. I had thought to try to find a role in it that suited me, but then I was here, and here is ..." Illyria considers for a moment.
"... here is fascinating. Perhaps I could stay here."
no subject
no subject
"A room? It is possible to have rooms here? The shell's memories did not inform me that people can stay in a bar in the same way that they stay in..." Illyria searches for the word, "... a hotel. To whom must I speak if I wish to have a room?"
no subject
She smiled.
"The bar is sentient, so just ask it for a room and the key will appear. Or you could talk to a bartender when there is one."
no subject
"Excellent. You have been entirely more helpful than the last few beings that I have encountered. I will remember your help should I ever regain my old status."
With that, Illyria walks off purposefully toward the bar, in search of a room key.

"How are you finding Milliways?"

Aeryn raised an eyebrow suspiciously.
"I was under the impression humans didn't fly?"
no subject
no subject
"Still bound?"
no subject
"Yeah, still Bound. So far, anyway. I'm working on it."
no subject
"I seem to manage without any powers. Somehow."

"Like an advanced human." It didn't leave such a bitter taste in her mouth to compare herself to a human anymore. She made a habit of getting in to deep where humans were concerned.

She figured she might as well get the worst over with.
"Into service as a soldier in the Peacekeeper forces."

She smiled and gave a half-hearted shrug.
"I always preferred piloting anyway."
