(no subject)

Jaina and Zekk sit next to each other at a booth, one with a chocolate milkshake, the other with a lomin ale. Jaina flips through the pages of Ender's Game (which Bar decided to give her earlier in the day), while Zekk watches people in the bar. They're pretty silent, except for the occasional hum or click, typically accompanied by a touch on the neck or cheek here and there.

Yeah, Joiner behavior. Strange, eh?

Blink. Stare. "Hold on. Insectoid alien race?" Why is everything sounding so frelling familiar tonight. "I didn't know you had any of those in your galaxy."

"Well then." Val seems a bit taken aback. "It sounds like a creature from my universe."

Zekk makes a few clicking sounds. "There's no connection to be made."

"Well, yeah." It's still a bit too close for Val's comfort, though. Or perhaps it's the hope, somewhere, somehow, that the Formics didn't die, that Ender wasn't a total Xenocide. But she brushes it off. Or tries to at least.

"Sorry. I tend to have a rather vivid imagination sometimes." She looks a bit sheepish, but cracks a smile.
