Lucy is entirely capable of being social.

She just happens to also be the sort of person who can be just as happy, generally speaking, by herself. (So long as there's tea, at least, but really, that's a given.)

So it's been about two weeks since she was last in the bar, but she's back. With tea.

She's also attempting to quilt, which she's fairly certain she was good at once upon a time.

She's not now.

She is, in fact, very bad at quilting now, which is a bit frustrating, as she distinctly remembers one of the fauns teaching her how to do so at least decently.

It's entirely possible some not-very-ladylike words are being muttered under her breath.

Aye. Eddie did say the city was quite full o' dirt. What to make all the burrows.

"I don't suppose they're talking badgers?"

I-

I dinna know.

*seriously*

I c'n ask Eddie.

Be there talking badgers?

"In some places." Also seriously. "Maybe you should? If they talk, someone could ask them not to make so many burrows all over the place."

*Martha nods as if this is the most logical thing in the world. And, for a girl as herself who's never seen a city, it may just be.*

Be the talking badgers... in London?*

Lucy considers.

"You'd have to ask one of my brothers, really, because they'd be more likely to know for certain. As far as I'm aware, no."

Me brother Dickon would just die were an animal o' his to talk, he would.

"I was surprised the first time I heard one speak," Lucy admits.

Where were it? In th' country, then?

"Yes, in the country. A different sort of country than England, really. It's called Narnia."

Narnia. S'that on Earth?

"No, it's--well, it's rather it's own sort of world, really, like a fairy tale land."

Is tha a fairy tale, then? I thought thee said tha 'us from London.

"I am. I just...well, I visited there for a while, Narnia, I mean."

Is Narnia much like this place, such that a body can visit it?

"...I think so, but I don't know how to get there from here, I'm afraid. And I can't go back, anyway."

No?

"No. I'm--I've grown too old."

Too old to go to a world? That be sad, aye.

"Yes," softly. "It is."

Tha sounds as though tha misses it.

"Aye, I miss it, Martha. 'Twas home," and her speech shifts for the moment, slightly, barely, into something other, formal and lilting, and then it's gone. "Every day."

*Martha stands and moves to the other side of the table, sitting beside Lucy and inviting her into a half sort of hug.*

Tha mun allus have it.

Lucy smiles, a little, a bit sadly, and holds the younger girl for a moment.

"Thank you."
