Faith comes into the bar from upstairs, obviously just out of the shower - all the blood is gone, and her hair is still wet, clinging to her shoulders.

Her expression is completely unreadable as she moves to the bar and acquires two things - coffee, and a room key - before moving to a table.

"Hey."

Alex's voice is soft as he sits down beside her.

"You okay, dearheart?"

"Connor and I split up."

Faith is staring at the room key, her expression inscrutable.

"Just now."

He gently pulls her into a hug, kissing her hair.

"M'sorry, Faith."

She shrugs slightly, leaning against him.

"Mutual decision. I'm mortal, he's not...plus, I'm a Slayer, more mortal than most...it was gonna be painful, it's just...easier now than later."

"I know. Still. I'm sorry you're hurting." Quietly, "I care about you, you know. Don't like seeing you upset."

"I know. It's very sweet."

She smiles, faintly, and tilts her face up to kiss his cheek.

"Mutual too."

He smiles a little. "I'd hope so, considering you're going to be Nick's best man..."

She chuckles softly, her smile widening.

"I actually bought a dress for that man. He should feel loved."

Alex chuckles. "I'm sure he understands the sacrifice. You know, if you need anything, even just someone to be there, you know where we are. We both love you, dearheart."

Faith melts, a little, and leans against him.

"Thank you, Alex. I love you too. Both. So much."

He absently strokes her hair. "As long as you remember that, then."

"I will."

Beat, as she sighs happily at the petting.

"I'm moving into Staff Quarters...and Nick seems the type to have quite a lot of ideas about interior design. Safe bet, you think?"

Alex chuckles. "Fairly safe bet, yes. He always seems horrified at my apathy about decorating."

Faith laughs, softly.

"Eight hundred years would teach you a few things, I suppose."

"Mmm. I never really had time back in Tortall, anyway. Not if I wanted to be a proper Court nobleman and get everything done that I needed done. Besides, I think he enjoys it."

"He probably does. He's...such a girl sometimes."

Alex snickers. "Don't let him hear you say that, he'll use the puppy-dog eyes on you."

Faith snorts.

"Heavens forbid. Those things really ought to be illegal. I bought a dress because of those eyes."

"And he's entirely too willing to use them unfairly."

"And admits that freely, and makes no apology."

"Which is why he's my big goofy puppy-man vampire," Alex says cheerfully, kissing Faith's hair again.

Faith laughs.

"You're a brave man, to call him that, Alex. Mind, I've called him worse..."

"Usually it gets me carried upstairs by a Nick doing a caveman impression," he admits. "And I don't think he'd take it kindly from many others."

"I've called him goofy a few times. That's about as far as I'm willing to go, really."
