Enter Faith, through the front doors.

Alone, tan, her hair grown out to her backside, looking not at all surprised to find the bar instead of...wherever she's coming from.

Outside there's sand, and palm trees, and beyond that, ocean as far as the eye can see.

Vacation's over. Time to get back to work.

*Meg bites her lip.*

- j'suis desolee - you okay? I mean, I guess it's been a bit for you -

"Yeah. It was a mutual thing, you know?"

Faith shrugs, slightly. "Me Slayer, him Immortal...it's better this way."

*Meg nods, a little.*

- yeah, maybe. But that doesn't make it, you know, easy, *she says, a little wryly.*

You guys are still friends, though, right?

Faith nods.

"Oh yeah. I mean, like I say. Mutual. And nah, not easy, but...not as hard as it might be."

That's something, *Meg agrees, and tries to think of something helpful to say.*

- I could juggle for you again?

Faith laughs.

"It's OK, Meg, really. I'm fine. It's better this way."

- probably better if I don't juggle too much anyways, *Meg says, with a smile.* Lose the novelty.

So tell me about your vacation?

"Island. Lots of water. Sand. No people. Just me. Months. It was nice. No responsibilities, nothing to worry about."

. . . Dieu, that does sound nice, *Meg says, rather wistfully.

With a 'stupid responsibilities' implied, if not said.*

"Yeah. But you'd probably hate the sun."

Faith sighs. "So what've you been up to, then?"

. . . that's a harder question to answer than you'd think.

Er.

I got fired? And rehired. Sort of. Er. Also Andrew and I are now nobility. And own a small province.

This? This is the face of 'bzuh'.

"...what?"

Yeah, *Meg says, gloomily.*

He's Lord Wells and I'm Lady Giry. Which - is probably bad, since neither of us really know how to run a province. But I got us a really good steward?

"OK. Well. That's...interesting. How did this happen?"

Well, *Meg says,* I sort of helped with a rebellion war type thing, and when our side won they had a couple provinces to give away . . .

"Oh. Well, that's nice. And hey, you won! Whose rebellion was it?"

Max and Michael and Isabel's on Antar - I should probably add that Max is king now. And we all had to be blue for a while to blend in.

*Because this is clearly vital information.*

"Oh. Wow. I would have helped, if I'd known...you had to be blue? Was their planet taken over by Smurfs?"

They're all blue there, *Meg explains.* With purple hair. It's a very monochrammatic planet.

*It should be mentioned that Meg is rather proud of herself for knowing the word 'monochrammatic' in English.*

I went mostly to keep an eye on Isabel and Warren. But I think I may actually have been strategically helpful, *she adds, a trifle proudly.*

Good legs are useful as diversions.

"Well, I'm glad you guys won. And congratulations on the royalty thing."

Well, it's a bit awkward, *Meg says, with a sigh,* since, you know, as a member of the oppressed working class I'm supposed to be anti-nobility. But Andrew's very excited about it.

"But this is good! You can bring change to the nobility. Provide the viewpoint of the oppressed working class."

But to do that to the Antarian nobility, *Meg points out,* I'd have to be, you know, able to get to Antar.

Which is a problem.

"Well...who's the Antarian nobility? Maybe Max can take messages."

Faith has no clue.

Maybe, *Meg says, dubiously.* But as it is now, I'm stuck with the title, and the stigma, and no benefits for it.

- except the cash, that's kind of nice.
