Thea entered from the direction of upstairs. She looked much better today, her cheeks were glowing, her hair was shiny and she was inclined to be nice to everyone, even a certain Frenchman. She stepped up to the bar and after a small hesitation asked for several things, none of which were exactly ordinary. Then she sat down in a booth and laid them out in front of her, scribbling hastily in a notebook.

Why not ask her what one does with an chunk of Celestite, some salt and a bowl of water?

"Are you a shapeshifter?" She asked curiously.

"I have never felt anything like what I feel from you?"

Mun accidentally read it the other night, so it will be alright.

*Alright then. It only comes to bear in the very last chapters of the last book, anyway. Yrael's mun wishes you well in reading the next two books, and the collection of short stories.*

*The cat stretches.* I am a shapeshifter in that I may change what shape I show to the rest of existence, but I am not a shapeshifter in the conventional meaning of the term. I change shape for I may not show my true shape in the bar.

*He nudges her hand with his head, in case a scritch might be hidden there.*

She scritches his ears. She's used to obedience towards small, cute animals.

"Why can't you show your true form. It's not like a naked man or something, is it?"

A slight blush appeared on her cheeks at this question, but she didn't realise it.

*The mun says ignore the icon, for it is only meant as a joke. Though it has been used as a good distraction during plot, sometimes.*

*The cat smirks.* No, my true form is not that of an unclothed human. I am a Bright Shiner, and my true form is as bright or brighter than some planets' suns. People caught unawares tend to go blind.

Mun is finding it very difficult to ignore the droolworthy icon.

"Well, I'm glad you are a cat right now then. I'd rather not be blind."

Especially without the benefits of visions, like Aradia. She stroked the cat over and then scritched the ears again.

Most people would rather not be blind, I have found. Out of respect for the peace in Milliways, where I have made my home, I keep physical form unless I have need of my true shape.

*He's still in catshape, but the mun cannot help but show off icons.*

"So you either have to look like a cat, or a very bright thing?"

Thea found that very unusual, but wasn't sympathetic. She was sure the cat didn't mind.

"I'm Thea by the way." She wrote another sentence in her notebook.

I can be any physical shape I like.

*The cat's shape grows ragged at the edges, then begins to stretch upwards, brightly. It reforms and there is a young man there, an albino. His white hair matches his white shirt and slacks, and his translucently pale skin. The lack of color hits the eye hard, as hard as if he had had an arm missing. All his color seems to be concentrated into his bright green eyes, which are the same eyes as the cat's had been.*

I have many names, but call me Yrael. A pleasure to meet you, Thea.

Thea leaned backwards slightly. She couldn't see herself, but her hazel eyes had widened considerably. Worse still a large blush was gathering on her cheeks. The kind of blush that comes from remembering that a moment ago you'd been petting what was now a very charming man.

She was of course used to shapeshifters, but she hadn't expected it.

"...thank you."

*Eh, she's just lucky he didn't change shapes on her lap, instead of beside her.*

*He smiles.* Forgive the sudden change. I merely wanted to show you what I meant.

"It's alright, I just..."

The blush became noticably wider. Thea had a pure heart and a pure soul, but her thoughts weren't completely untainted.

"I'm a little shocked."

Please let him have noticed nothing out of the ordinary. She could feel her cheeks burning.

*Oh dear, and here's Yrael, being able to feel the strong emotions of those near him.*

*He pats the back of her hand.* Understandably, of course.

Emotions at the moment which include extreme embarrassement and mortification.

The blush had faded slightly, but her eyes still looked a bit sparkly. Sudden emotion made them do that.

"I don't suppose, you know anything about how to get out of Milliways?" She asked, with very little hope for a positive answer.

Well, that wholly depends upon where one is wishing to go. Most leave through the door. Are you Bound, then? Most patrons who find themselves Bound can still leave the bar into other worlds, if someone from that world opens the door for them.

*He signals to a wait-rat, which approaches, fearing for its very existence. Its eyes never leave the not'cat. Yrael smiles to Thea.*

Care for anything to drink?

"The door doesn't appear to be there for me."

She said with a slight grimace, hoping he didn't think her insane. She had come through a linen closet after all.

"I don't suppose they have Evian here, besides my money...kind of got stolen, or lost.

She suspected the french guy, but had no proof.

I can see the door. Were I to open it for you, you could probably walk through. It would not be certain, but you probably could. But, you would be going to the world from which I came to Milliways, not the one from which you came.

*He motions to the wait-rat, which huddles down as though it expected to be pounced at any moment.* Evian, please, and a glass of goat's milk.

*to Thea* They serve everything here. Any food from any world that is connected to the bar.

"I see."

She sighed, sounding just a little forlorn. But a sweet,innocent and forlorn girl was probably nothing new in Milliways.

"I'll pay you back as soon as I find a way to get some money..."

*He smiles.* No, you shall not. This is me repaying you for the delightful petting, earlier.

*Sometimes it's funny how innocently the non-innocent not'cat can say things.*

Innocent or not, it caused another explosion of pink on the cheeks of one Miss Harman.

"I...didn't know you were a man then."

Somehow it had stumbled out of her mouth.

Oh, I know. But that does not mean that it was not enjoyable.

*His smile is pleased, and slightly amused.*

Thea was beginning to think he enjoyed teasing her.

"Don't say that!!!"

*He blinks his laughing green eyes, bemused.*

Would you rather I lie?

*For a given meaning of "lie."*

"Yes, I'd rather you didn't embarrass me."

And make me blush like a silly little girl.

*He shrugs.* I only meant to repay the kindness you showed me.

If you wish, however, I shall lie as best I can.

*Yrael clears his throat and speaks with a straight face.* You did not scritch very well at all. Your fingernails are not the perfect length for a good, thorough scritching. Your eyes are not quite pretty in the firelight, and your blush is not a very lovely shade of pink.

If it was possible, Thea's cheeks went even redder.

"I think you could charm the birds from the trees."

And straight into your mouth.

She raised a hand to cover her mouth, positively glowing with mortification. She wasn't used to compliments.
