(no subject)

Thea entered from the direction of upstairs. She looked much better today, her cheeks were glowing, her hair was shiny and she was inclined to be nice to everyone, even a certain Frenchman. She stepped up to the bar and after a small hesitation asked for several things, none of which were exactly ordinary. Then she sat down in a booth and laid them out in front of her, scribbling hastily in a notebook.

Why not ask her what one does with an chunk of Celestite, some salt and a bowl of water?

[OOC: Note that I have installed a new icon because I have far too many to keep just one on for long. Feel free to bother, in fact it is positively encouraged.]

"Oh, dear," says the Ordinary Princess. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

She's not sure what that would be, honestly, but feels like she should offer.

"Hmmmmmm." Amy thinks about it for a moment. "I don't think I can. I've never had any trouble getting in and out of the bar." She sounds very glum.

The she has an idea. "Is there anything I can bring you? I assume you're doing magic, since I can't think of any other way a bowl of water can create a door."

Usually, she would not go into this, because it's the part of her life she doesn't talk about here, but she's feeling very sorry for the woman who's stuck in the bar, so she rushes recklessly ahead.

"Well, my parents have a court magician, of course. And I have a great number of fairy godmothers, all the members of Oberon's Court, actually. It's a very different kind of magic, I think, from the magician's. Magic is what made me ordinary, instead of a proper--well, ordinary."

"Most people," the Ordinary Princess agrees, cheerfully.

She would leave it at that, but notices Thea looks a little confused. With a sigh she adds, "But I'm not supposed to be, because I'm a princess."

There, she's said it.

"My mother," she says. "And all the princes they wanted me to marry. Well, they only wanted me to marry one of them, of course. But the princes want beautiful princesses, like my sisters, not ordinary ones. I don't care in the slightest, I like being ordinary, but I'm not about to marry some silly stuffy prince and I was not about to go along with that ridiculous idea about the dragon!"

The Ordinary Princess is a little flushed, and she's not not especially concerned with filling in all the details.

"Qwa!" says Peter Aurelious.

"Precisely," the Ordinary Princess agrees. She takes a deep breath, and then says, "So, what do you do? In your world?"

"I see," says the Ordinary Princess, though she doesn't, as she will prove with the next questions. "So, that's a school for the nobility, the High School?"

"Oh," says the Ordinary Princess. "I seem to make so many mistakes when I talk to people here." But she laughs, too.

"Do you study magic there?"

"You're not human?" the Ordinary Princess asks, quite surprised.

"Oh," says the Ordinary Princess. She thinks for a moment, then says, "You can't be both?"

[ooc: sure, but I've never done that before, so how exactly does it work? =)]

"I've never met a witch before," says the Ordinary Princess. "I did meet a girl who was rather insistant that she was not a witch, though." She turns her attention back to the problem of the door. "Is there anyone here who can help you get your door back? I've met some very magical people -- Al made Simon Perryvall out of an acorn shell."

The extremely small grey squirrel fluff his tail and chatters at Thea.

The Ordinary Princess is not fond of just waiting. If she were, she'd be married by now.

"I'm sorry, I wish there were something I could do to help," she says. She produces a small, slightly squashed and slightly stale cake from her apron pocket and breaks it in half. "Would you like some?" she offers.
