[OOM: Jaina returns to Ossus to do some thinking away from Zekk.]

Jaina's been back from her brief trip to Ossus for a couple of hours now, having head straight up to Zekk's room to talk with her friend. Now, both Jedi are down in the bar, sitting next to each other at a booth as Jaina attempts to teach him the finer points of dejarik.

It's almost as if last night's kiss never happened. But that's not true. The kiss - and everything tied up with it - is still rather prominent on both their minds. It's just easier not to admit it, even to each other.

Peter had finished training, and got himself cleaned up before venturing back into the bar. His hair was still slightly dampish from the shower.

He recognized Jaina but not the man with her. He recalled what she had said about their bond, and stopped over, "Hi Jaina, and this is uh, Zekk, is it?"

Jaina looks up from the holoboard, meeting eyes with Zekk for a moment before smiling at Peter. "Hi Peter."

She and Zekk nod.

"You're right on that," Zekk adds in.

Peter blinked, and his eyes widened a little, "You really weren't kidding with that, huh?" He sat down in a nearby chair.

"Is it just like this when you're with each other or distance isn't a factor?"
And he's filing information in the back of his mind. The Psychology journals would flip over this.

Jaina and Zekk chuckle. "Why would we lie about something like this?"

She gives a small shrug. "Went back to Ossus last night. Was the first time we couldn't sense each other."

"Since we were with the Colony," Zekk adds in, rubbing his forearm against Jaina's.

They're both rather unaware of the action.

Peter did note the subconscious action, wondering if it's a source of comfort, or to reinforce the contact.

"Do you have an idea why? Something causing interference?"

Jaina clicks softly to herself as she thinks this over. "Maybe."

"Could have been too far a distance?"

Peter nodded, hiding how creeped out he was finding this conversation. But he was getting some good material.

"That's possible. Like getting out of range I guess. About far apart were you from each other?"

Jaina smirks, and she and Zekk share a look. "Suppose you could say we were in a galaxy far, far away," Jaina replies dryly. "Was on Ossus."

"While we were still here, at the end of the universe."

Peter nodded, "And since this place is outside time or space... yeah, that'll do it. Have you been on different planets in your uh, galaxy, but still sense each other?"

Jaina shakes her head. "Cilghal said that the effects of the mind meld only worked when we were around each other."

"Which was originally true, before we went to Qoribu," Zekk adds in, a small frown on his face.

Peter frowned, "You mean it's changed or evolving? Uh, have parts of your personalities or mannerisms been manifesting within each other? Like one walks or moves a certain way, then the other starts doing so even when you're not together?"

"Cilghal thinks that the," a pause while she tries to figure out the proper way to phrase this, "more permanent meld right now is also a result of being Joiners."

"We're not sure on the other part."

"Guess too early to say, huh? Might want to keep an eye for that."

Peter added, "Guessing what happens to one, affects the other, right?"

Jaina and Zekk share another glance. "We can't pick up on physical sensations, but thoughts and emotions..."

Jaina and Zekk both blush, remembering last night.

"Eh, yeah," Zekk adds, rather unhelpfully, still looking rather embaressed. He didn't mean to kiss her. Okay, so maybe he did. "Works like that."

Peter raised an eyebrow at this, catching the tension and embarassment, "Am I missing something here?" Considering their bond, UST was likely par for the course in that situation. Not like they're siblings at least, luckily. That would be way too many levels of ackwardness.

Jaina shakes her head rather quickly. No need to tell him that she kissed a guy she thought of as just another brother for the past seven years. No, no need to bring up any of that.

"No."

"Nothing at all," Zekk adds in. But there's a grin on his face.

Peter smirked a little, "Uh-huh. Are you familiar with the phrase, 'protesth too much?'"

He's met with two identical blank stares. "We've never..."

"Head of it, actually."

Peter still smirking, "Basically meaning that your protests of denial are just bring more attention to the fact you're denying something."

"There's nothing to deny."

"Even if there were, it would probably be none of your buisness," Zekk says, wrapping an arm around Jaina's shoulders.

"Ok, backing off. Though whatever it is, wouldn't be surprising, considering your bond."

He added, "You can't get much close quarters than what you two have now. Bound to affect things."

His words do strike some level of interest in Jaina. "What do you mean by that?"

"That it won't be surprising?" Zekk adds in.

Jaina and Zekk both chuckle at the last statement. "Right," they say in unison.

"Uh, no, it definitely wouldn't."

Peter glanced between them, "Almost sound like a married couple anyway, just with a twist."

Jaina rolls her eyes. "We're not together in that sense. We have a..."

That sentance doesn't get finished as Jaina remembers the fight she had with Jag.

"We're friends," Zekk admits reluctantly. "Have been since we were kids."

Peter nodded, "Never know. Weddings seem to all the rage around here lately."

"But probably reading into something not there, right?"

He then got up, "I should get something to eat, good talking with you again, Jaina, and nice meeting you, Zekk. Was enlightening to say the least." And boy was he glad that the mind meld he had was temporary.

"Right," Jaina replies coldly, glaring at Peter.

Didn't mean anything.
Yeah, right.

Her face softens a bit, and she gives Peter a small smile. "See you around, Peter."

"Nice to meet you, too."
