Bonnie walked in clutching a clipboard that she was checking off as she went. Funding is a go, approval is a go, there were still things left to do, and she'd left all her dynamics books here. And her laptop. So she was there to do ... a lot of stuff, not all of them related to work, thank heavens.

She and her clipboard took a place at the bar, pencil sketching out possible hydraulics systems.

"I'm sorry Bonnie," she says sincerely. "Is he still with her?"

She knows that when you let down your guard, you can be easily hurt.

"She's in the witness protection program. Short term answer... No. Long term, who knows?" Bonnie shrugged. "But that's the backstory on that fight."

"That would make a relationship more difficult," she looks at her friend. "But if she hadn't shown up...you would have never gotten to experience the things you have with Karr."

"Yeah," she agreed. "It's one of those catch-twenty-twos. Damned if you don't, damned if you do."

"I hate those," she says after a moment. "But in my line of work I ran into them pretty often." She has another bite of cake. "You're right, Bar would make an excellent caterer."

At the change of subject, Bonnie couldn't help but laugh, even though she agreed. "You're right," she said, and chuckled.

Michelle laughs a little too, "Sorry, I just realized how amazing this cake tastes." But she laughs again, "You know, I feel better after talking to you, Bonnie."

"I'm glad," she said with a nod, reaching out to touch Michelle's shoulder. "Gotta be good for something besides being up to my elbows in grease, after all."

"You can be good for both things," she smiles a little and looks at her. Something becomes clear and the answer is so obvious. "This might sound a little sudden but I was wondering, would you be my Maid of Honor?" Because she knows that Bonnie is her closest female friend in the bar. And she likes her.

A blink but then Bonnie laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I... Yeah, I will. It's kinda amazing, but thanks, Michelle."

Maid of Honour. That's something to put on her resume for sure.

She smiles in return, a real smile. "Thank you, Bonnie." And somehow with the decision made and the offer accepted she can breathe a little easier.

"You're welcome," she said, and didn't quite lose her smile.

She smiles and looks down, "Anyway, I think I saw Tony go up a while ago. I'll see you later, Bonnie. Sleep well."
