Chloe sits at the bar, drinking from her no foam latte as she reads through a copy of the Daily Planet that Bar was nice enough to provide again. She frowns at one article, but dismisses it, shaking her head. Every once in a while, she looks up from her paper, just to see what oddities she can find in Milliways today.

"He loved her. So he let me live as shame to the bloodline."

"What's a suburban?"

Give the guy a break, he's from 500 years in the past.

"Wait, what sort of shame?" She's never really talked to a half-demon before.

Chloe rolls her eyes. "Tell me your kidding. Surburbea? Home of the boring?"

"I'm part human," he says as though it's painfully obvious. "No demon family would want weakness in the family's bloodline. But my father let me live."

He looks very confused. "Kagome has never told me about anything like that. I'm from the Feudal Era of Japan."

Her eyes widen. "The feudal era of Japan? Whoa, you're definately in my past."

"Oh yeah? Where're you from?"

"Smallville, Kansass. 2001."

"Is Kansas part of America? Kagome tells me about that place."

She nods. "Yeah, it is. Has your friend been there?"

"I don't think she has. She says she studies it in school and that it's a poweful nation."

"Take it she's not from the feudal era?"

He shakes his head, finishing his rice. "No--she's from my future. 500 years into my future at least. She fell down a well in her family's shrine and found me."

"Talk about your well of weird," Chloe mutters.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"She falls through a well and somehow winds up five hundred years in the past. That's not strange to you?"

"Magic," he says with a shrug, "though apparently humans in your time don't hold to it anymore.

"And if she wasn't meant to, she wouldn't have. Simple as that."

"Rather simple explanation for that. Sure it wasn't some sort of interdimensional portal?"
