Guppy is in the bar, in a booth. He's not wearing the revolting tie, but his best one, a smart blue one. He is carrying a bunch of pretty pink flowers, and the kitten is sitting in his pocket.
He stares at the trilobite tank, waiting for Helen and thinking.

"Really, I'm serious. My housemate has banned me from going anywhere near the cooker after I burned a hole in one of the frying pans. Most of what I cook is completely inedible, but I'm quite good at eggs."

Helen giggles. "Well, I can cook, but living here, you don't need to worry." She grins. She pets Scampi, who turns over, lying on his back. "I should get myself a cat. It's nice to have a house pet, and it gets lonely otherwise," she muses.

"When I'm living here, yes. But I can't afford to live here and in Holby all the time. My salary doesn't account for me living two lives within the same year."

He sips his drink.

"Wouldn't Melina get upset if you got a cat?"

Helen smiles. "I waitress here for my salary." She drinks some more of her lemonade. "Melina doesn't have to know. She lives in the stables now, and, as much as I love having my own place, it does get lonely. Besides, could I bring a car riding with me? How would that work?"

~~Mun blinks at the sentence 'could I bring a car riding with me' for just a second.~~

"I have to carry Scampi around a lot, usually if I haven't enough hands free at the time. But a full grown cat wouldn't fit in my pocket. Well, not the ones in this jacket anyway."

Helen smiles. "But I do love housepets." She takes another bite of steak, and then shrugs. "I have no idea where I would get one, anyway."

"I could get you a cat from my world. You wouldn't be able to choose it unless you came with me, but there are many up for adoption at animal shelters, or kittens for sale."

Helen's eyes widen. "You could?" Then she gets an idea. "I wonder, what is your world like, anyway?"

"Non-magical, rather dangerous but I would keep an eye on you. It's a version of Earth quite a bit later than your time. In some ways people are more civilised and look out for one another, like we have free healthcare for everyone that comes from taxes. There's still wars and violence, but I don't suppose that will ever go away."

He smiles. "I'd love to take you, if you're able to come. It's not Paris, but it's okay."

[ooc: Sorry about that. The internet died. Helen's dead isn't she?]

Helen smiles brightly. "Really? Could you?" Her eyes widen. "I've been dying to get out. I like it here, but it does get stuffy."

(ooc--that's fine. Helen's quite alive, actually:-)

"Of course. Not tonight because it'll be closed by now, but another time I'll take you to see the sights. And the cats."

Guppy beams, wondering why he hadn't thought of this before ~~and unaware that the mun had got confused and thought that Helen was dead when actually she was probably thinking of Elaine~~.

Helen nearly bounces as she takes another bite of steak. "Thank you!" She grabs one of his hands and squeezes it. "You have to explain everything to me though." She grins. "But I am so excited! A new world to explore! And a cat, which is always nice."

"We can go on my day off. We can go to the seaside and the animal shelter and the park. It'll be very different to Troy but it's a nice enough place in its own way. Do you know about cars and things?"

He squeezes the hand back.

Helen beams. "Yes, Val introduced me to cars when we visited her world. And electric lines, those types of things." She sips her drink. "Different is good."

Guppy is glad about this. He wouldn't want Helen to be frightened.

"It's a lot different from here. Like I said, it can be a dangerous place, but most of the time it's okay. And the portals to Milliways are regular, so there shouldn't be any danger of you getting stuck."

Helen grins widely. "I'm not that scared of danger anymore. And hopefully, I will not get stuck. I would prefer to be with someone who knows their way around the city..." she smiles brightly.

"Well obviously I'm going to stay with you. I just meant that if you did get lost, you wouldn't need to worry too much."

Helen grins. "Thank you. Really. This means a lot to me." She squeezes his hand again.

[ooc: Can we fade to black here? Mun can't stay on the computer much longer tonight because of work tomorrow at 6.25 am. We can arrange a little trip another night.]
