Chase, yawning, slouches down the stairs and takes a seat at the bar. "Just coffee and some toast, thanks."

The Bar obliges. Next to the toast, however, a small cupcake with a candle on it also materializes, with the number 27 written on it in frosting.

Chase blinks. It takes a few sips of coffee for this to register.

"Oh!" He grins, and bites into the cupcake. "Thanks, Bar."

Anyone want to come wish Chase a happy birthday?

"But we're not..."

He trails off, helplessly. And has absolutely nothing else he can say.

"We're fictional? What the fuck, Ryan?"

"In some universes, yeah."

"So it's like when we run into the Star Wars characters and the Harry Potter characters here, and..." He doesn't finish the thought aloud, but he knows what he'd been going to say. Like how they don't seem like real people to us even when we're talking to them. That's us, to other people.

"Fuck." He leans slowly against the bar. "What's this show like? You've seen it?"

"Elaine's fictional, technically." Although he didn't think of her as such and hadn't as far as he could remember. It had been surreal when he found out but after that he just hadn't thought about it.

It didn't change what he thought of her.

"It's pretty accurate," he says with a slight wince, remembering the episode. "It seems like a good show. I never watched much tv but - the production values and all that were good. Looked more like a movie."

He takes a deep breath. "The, uh, actors were all spot-on too."

"Is she? I always thought..." He stops, and has to think about that. "I guess she is, yeah...I never saw her as fictional..."

He exhales slowly. Actors. God.

"Did they look much like us? The actors?"

"Yeah, they did. I didn't see you or the actor or whatever," he sighs.

"It was before you were at CTU."

He shrugs. "Maybe I'm not in it at all, then?"

He tries to decide whether that would be a good thing or a bad thing, and leans towards the former.

"You're not. The trading card said you appeared in the third season."

"Oh." He deflates a little. "Great."

He sighs. "What was the episode you saw about?"

"It was, uh, when Jack was captured by the Drazens."

And I refused the trade.

Chase has heard the basic story of that, and of course he's a little biased, but he wasn't there for it, and he can't judge. He hasn't heard a great deal about Ryan's involvement in it.

"Did it have everyone? Like, who were the main characters?"

"That changed with each season but Jack was the star of the show."

Chase is one of the few people who's not at all bitter about that. He just feels bad for Jack.

He sighs. "I might have to watch this at some point." He doesn't sound as though he relishes the prospect.

"The bar will probably give you episodes if you ask."

He shrugs. "Maybe she'll consider them a birthday present and give me a discount," he says wryly.
