Laini has her own project she's fiddling with, but- no cookies and no lemonade, alas! So, she eyes Raven's consumables from her own table just a bit away.

Raven eventually notices her gaze, and he gestures vaguely with one hand.

"If you are hungry, you may have some of this. I cannot eat it all."

This may, perhaps, be a small stretching of the truth.

Laini blinks, and smiles a bit sheepishly- but that doesn't stop Raven from soon having a kitsune sitting at his table. "Thanks. Though I do wonder if this counts as accepting candy from strangers. So-"

Grinning, she offers her hand. "My name's Laini. And despite your apperances, you definitly don't smell human."

Raven grins, and takes her hand.

"They call me Raven. And you are correct, I am not human. I am not a bird, either, though I wear that shape, as well."

He blinks.

"You are a kitsune, yes? I have met another such, here. It was an interesting meeting, I think."

"Yes, I am." Laini beams. "And it was probably the Honorable Lady Ako you've met, if it was here. She comes here often enough."

"Raven, hm? North America part of the earth realm?" She tilts her head, curious.

"Yes, that is the one I met. I like her, I think."

Raven grins.

"As to North America, I have spent a great deal of time there, yes. But that is not my birthplace, and I have been to many other worlds, as well."

A blink.

"You call them realms? I have not heard that terminology before, I do not think."

"... You will be hearing that terminology, then." A grin spreads over her face. "I'm a mapmaker, and magi-tech. Some of us in Furhold, where I'm from, have been working on mapping out Underhill. - Don't blame me for the name, the fae and sidhe got better PR on the name for the Spirit Realms."

Raven tilts his head.

"They like geographically implausible names, I think. Also, they are drama queens, as I recall."

He quirks an amused grin.

"They are not so good with subtle, I do not think."

Laini snickers.

"It sounds like you right know them, Raven. Yep, they tend towards the huge, flowery names, and drama, and the obvious."

Raven winces, faintly.

"I know them well enough, yes. Though I count Puck as a friend, here, so I should hate to drag him into it."

He smirks.

"But it is accurate."

"I've heard of Puck, by story and reputation only- but by that, he knows how to appretiate a good joke, so he's quite different than the rest. There's all sorts of fae as well, aside from the elves."

Laini chuckles, shaking her head and nibbling on a sugar cookie.

Raven also takes another cookie, but his disappears rather quickly.

"Some of them are more tolerable than others--though it has been some time since I have run across any of them. It is a strange thing, perhaps."

"I usually duck out of any of the diplomatic stuff, and leave that to Lady Ako when I can get away with it." A sheepish grin.

"Then again, I'm a tech, so I don't have to deal with them, hurrah for me."

Raven raises an eyebrow, then grins.

"It is a convincing argument for becoming a tech, perhaps. I have never had much of a mind for diplomacy, either. It is a hazard, I think."

"Well, there you go." Laini winks.

"I go out to places, map out where portals go to the different locations Underhill, figure out what those places are, and then add it all to our data system back home. Rather a lot of fun, I think."

"Travel is almost always entertaining. Although travel through space is often boring. There is not much that happens, in a vacuum."

Laini blinks, eyebrow raising and corrosponding ear on that side of her head flickering back.

"'Haven't quite gone through physical space, myself. There's paths to take through the spirit realm that can take you out to the planets, though." She grins.

"I've ~~threatened~~ promised someone here to put up an egyptian statue of him on Mars, to boggle the human scientists when they get there."

Raven laughs.

"It would be good to see their faces, I think. It is odd that so skeptical a people are also so trusting of their eyes."

"When there's at least four or five other senses that can be used as well." Laini nods, quite sincerely.

"Hmmm. Egyptian stuff on mars. Wanna bet they'd blame the atlanteans?" Her tails twitch in amusement.

Raven blinks.

"It is odd that Atlanteans have become scapegoats, I think. They would not have liked it, if I recall correctly."

"Not quite scapegoats per say, but anything odd and 'Before Common Era' for humans gets attributed to them. Odd sort of deal, really. Not like there weren't any other civilizations back then who were doing some pretty amazing things." Laini shakes her head.

"Including some non-human ones, but you'd be amazed at what sort of humans believe that anymore."

"Atlanteans are mystical. I think humans feel this gives them bonus points in the history sweepstakes."

"Or they had better press agents. Lose your capital city to the sea, and all of a sudden everyone wants to be you in a past life. I swear the place must have sank because of all the royality and religious leaders, if the current population claiming to be those in a past life is any indication."

Raven nods solemnly.

"That would be a great weight, indeed. Enough to tip a continent, perhaps."

Laini grins at Raven, then starts snickering. "Quite indeed. Ker-sploosh."

Raven laughs.

"Several orders of magnitude louder, at least, but yes."

A giggle, tails twitching and Laini sips her lemonade. "Great Floods version louder. Ah well. I wasn't quite around at that time, back then, so I just have to speculate."

"And maybe find someone else to ask."

And now, there is a bowl of jellybabies.

"Looked like you could use these." It's an Ace, being a good sister. Or maybe she's just being nosy, and employing bribes.

Half-distractedly Raven reaches out and grabs a handful of jellybabies.

He eats a few, and attempts to work the rest into the thread pattern.

"Thank you, Ace."

"Whatcha doing?"

We have a definite leaning towards the latter explanation.
