She is in the bar again.

She has been here before. A single appearance did not break the confines of this fragile space, nor a second, but a third?? How does the immensity of her presnce not overwhelm all who see her?

...they might not all be looking at the right places, but it would be difficult to miss them.

She is sitting at the bar again, with a cigarette and a glass of cheap brandy.

Come and do worship, ye sinners. Come and be corrupted, ye saints. She isn't picky.

"Usually, no," said Kitt. "Not for most. It wavers for others, passing slowly if not at all. But you should be able to return in more than enough time to accomplish whatever you wished."

"That's... all right, then." She puffs nervously at her cigarette.

"I take it your accomplishment-to-be held some great importance."

"Perhaps," she said quietly. "It might have kept my Roger out of trouble for a little while, anyway."

"Your Roger?" he asked, a bit curious. He rather hoped it meant what he hoped it did.

"My husband," she explains. "He's a little scatterbrained sometimes but who isn't, really?"

Husband.

It was as if, to him, the clouds of worry parted overhead and beams of relief like sunlight broke through.

"My partner is often like that," he agreed, able to really breathe again.
