And so. There's a very well dressed gentleman standing by the door to Milliways - naturally enough, he has a rather surprised expression on his face.

He's not wearing a tuxedo and there are no gorgeous women draping themselves over him. No vodka martini or Walther PPK in his hand either - in fact, he thinks he was about to get fired. So maybe he's a bit relieved to find himself here. He just wishes he knew where 'here' is.

James Bond is in the bar.

*She grins back*

Of coarse not.

Damn charm. Don't be attracted to James Bond. Don't be attracted to James Bond! Change subject.

So, any more questions? I'm here to help.

There's a couple of questions he could ask her, but it might be a little too soon. So he just grins again and goes for something benign. Sort of benign.

'How does one get a room here? A man needs a bed after all.'

Not sure. I don't have one. I suppose you would ask the bar.

*She shrugs*

'Ah, thats right. I suppose you have arrangements elsewhere.' He looks at the bar and just asks, 'Any chance of a room, old thing?'

And after a brief pause, a key appears. Engraved with the number 007, naturally. He grins at it, then looks back at Chris. 'So, do you just visit here whenever you feel like it? You have friends here?'

*A light smile from her toward the key*

Well, usually I just get put here by a random door. I haven't been here that long. About a week myself..but I have made a few acquaintances.

He smiles as he raises his glass to his lips. 'Well, you know my room number now. Feel free to give me a knock if you're ever at a loss.'

Him, flirt? Never.

'Nice sort of people in here?'

*She smiles*

Surely. You don't plan to stay locked up there all the time though, right? It'd be unfair to the other patrons.

*She can flirt, see*

Most people are nice. Others are dangerous. Some down right scary. Best to watch who you meet.

*She sighs*

I've already messed that up. I've already been threatened with death. That's what a mini-skirt attracts I guess.

*She smiles faintly*

'Oh, I'm sure a mini-skirt attracts far more pleasant things than that. If it wants to.' He has a drink and keeps his eyes on her. 'I won't confine myself to my room without good reason, I promise you that. but with good reason...' He shrugs lightly and smiles.

'Dangerous and scary people. Right. I'll do my best to avoid them. Maybe I will stay in my room after all.' His tone is easy and joking, he's clearly not intimidated.

*She smiles*

Not easily spooked, huh? Me neither. That why I wasn't killed.

*She smirks*

'No. I'd say that I'm not easily spooked.' He smiles. 'So what did you do to make someone threaten to kill you, if I may ask?'

He was being rude and I wouldn't take it. I beat him verbally and threatened to beat him physically. He threatened back and then disappeared...

I usually don't get so defensive...but he was very rude and I don't take it from anyone.

*She sighs*

He's around here sometimes, but why bother. He doesn't even deserve that.

*She's always been that defensive. Not necessarily a bad thing.*

'Well, I shall have have to be careful what I say around you I think. You'll beat me to a pulp.' His eyes glint with amusement, but that doesn't mean he's not taking her seriously. He is - she's obviously got strength and he likes that.

'May I have his name? The man sounds like a coward.'

*She smiles*

He is a coward. Lobo...he's a demon, I think. Trust me. He's not even worth a thought.

He files the name away anyway. He's not one to forget people that make threats against anyone. He glances at her glass.

'You look like you need another drink Chris. More sex appeal?' A smile. 'And I wont spare a thought on the demon.'

Sure. Thanks.

*She smiles*

Good. So, what do you do? or did you do?

He orders the drinks. 'I'm a civil servant back in London. It means I work for my government - office job for the most part, very boring.' And that's mostly true - it can be pretty boring when he's stuck in his office. The exciting assignments only happen about three times a year. 'What about you?'

Similar. I'm SWAT. Special weapons and tactics. I work for the government. Not such a office job, but still alot of paperwork.

*She smiles*

(ooc:sorry, have to go in ten minutes. Slowtime?)

He laughs. 'There's paperwork in every government position, it's the best way for them to make sure we con't get anything done. You have an impressive job though - sounds like it might be fun.'

He won't admit to knowing anything about weapons or tactics unless he has to. Discretion is an instinct by now.

*She smiles*

Yeah. It is to a certain degree...but it can be extremely serious at times.

Everyone looks to us.

'That sort of job always is. What made you choose it?'

It's hard for him to imagine a woman choosing that lifestyle - and isn't entirely convinced that females are up to it.

Well, my father was a cop. He died on an arrest. I guess I looked up to him alot. So, when I was old enough I joined the army, then the LAPD, and I wanted to be on SWAT. So, I put in an application and got it.

It's part of me doing it for my dad and the rest of my family and part of me doing it for myself.

Somebody's got to protect the innocent.

*She smiles*

Why'd you pick it?

He's not sure how to respond to the personal information she's giving him. So he keeps it short, but truthful.

'That's admirable Chris.'

He sips at his drink. 'I was in the Navy during the war and for a while afterwards - had to do something when I left. Decided to stay with the government.'

If he decided to explain the whole thing, they'd be there for hours. And he's just not into sharing, not so soon after meeting somone anyway.

Hmm...interesting.

'You're welcome, I guess.' He gives it to her in a passable Californian accent, garnished with a winsome grin. And then puts his glass down. 'No, not interesting at all but there you have it. Story of my life. But I don't mind it, so there you go.'
