*Alanna walks in the front door and removes her dusty cloak, shaking it out behind her. Talking to herself, she knocks her boots against the door frame. Large chunks of mud come off, and she wipes her hands on her black breeches. She glances around with a blank smile, taking a seat at the bar and ordering a large breakfast with plenty of coffee.

It's raining rather heavily in Corus.*

A closet? *She grins, eyes dancing with humor and a spark of anticipation.* That sounds interesting. Closet, secluded alcove... something.

*He shifts a little closer to her on his chair, still grinning.*

I'm sure nobody would miss you for a little while...

*She leans toward him, whispering.*

Are you kidding me? They might very well be relieved that I'm missing. I'm too frank for most people and give Jon headaches.

*Beaming, she winks.*

Well, then, I guess that's settled. I'll simply have to go with you to a ball some time.

[the_lioness]

Apparently so. Besides, you'd look good in a tunic and hose.

*Her lips twitch.*

*Adam stops. And nearly chokes.*

[the_lioness]

Tunic and hose. *She smiles innocently.* It's what all gentlemen wear to court functions.

*This is not strictly true, but she's having fun.*

[last_adam]

*He looks down at his legs, as if assessing them.*

I don't know if that's such a good idea.

[the_lioness]

Nonsense. I think it's a grand idea.

*She glances at his legs with a smirk.*

Don't worry, we'll work something out.

I'm not going to get out of this now, am I?

[the_lioness]

*Laughing, Alanna ducks her head and wraps her hands around her coffee mug.*

I won't force you to do anything. As I recall, you're the one who brought it up.

*Smirk, smirk, smirk*

*He smiles*

There are no cameras in Tortall, that I can promise you. *She leans over and tousles his hair.* I hope you can meet Jon here before this comes to pass.

*Adam looks at her, an open and inquiring look on his face.*

To prep me, or him?

[the_lioness]

Neither. *She smiles, eyes bright.* He's my oldest friend. I'd just like you two to meet.

Well, and he gets a little caught up in dignity and procedure at those affairs. You wouldn't meet the Jon I know. You'd meet the King.

[last_adam]

*He smiles and leans over, bumping her shoulder with his.*

Okay. That would be nice.

[the_lioness]

Very.

*Blushing faintly, Alanna tugs her sleeves over her hands and buries half of her face in them, covering her cold nose. It doesn't do much to hide her smile as she watches him.*

Aziraphael back yet?

[last_adam]

*He reaches out and moves her hands aside, giving the nose a tweak.*

Not yet. I'm not sure when he'll be back, to be honest.

[the_lioness]

*Her smile widens, and she bumps her shoulder against his.*

Well, don't work too hard. As long as no books are sold, he'll be happy, so maybe you should just keep the shop closed.

*She bites her lip, laughing softly.*

*He laughs.*

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah. He should be fine with the shop. I think I might be doing too good a job keeping customers away, though. Gets a bit boring after a while.

[the_lioness]

So perhaps it is you that needs entertaining. *She grins.* Chasing customers away sounds like great fun to me. I think I'd be good at it.

[last_adam]

Maybe you should come help out. *he beams at her* I can't pay you, but I'll buy you dinner.

[the_lioness]

*Grinning, she nods eagerly.*

I'd love to. *pause* Do I have to wear a tunic and hose?

*Adam laughs.*
