It's funny how things happen.

When one hasn't been to a place in a while, one may think about returning to it. But if one is Rose Red, one is worrying more about keeping things running in one's own place, stopping terrorist revolutions in one's own place, and of course throwing parties in one's own place.

This is why it's funny when Rose Red opens the door to what she thought was home.

And it's Milliways.

"... Nice."

"Door was right there behind me, right?"

She jerks her head at where the doorway is. Or should be.

"'cause it's not, now."

*Snow nods with a smile*

It was. That just means you're bound, and I don't need to worry about you vanishing on me suddenly. Come on, I'll get you something from Bar.

"Oh. Wonderful. The farm will be so safe now."

This is her best sarcasm, maybe.

"Not going to reject a drink, but honestly."

*She puts a comforting arm around her sister*

Relax, time doesn't pass while you're in here. The Farm will be as safe as you left it.

"Hope so."

Rose leans against Snow a minute. Here's a rare moment - actual concern for the Farm and actual emotion shown toward her sister.

Kodak moment.

"Get worried sometimes, now."

*She hugs Rose*

I know. At least while you're here you don't need to worry. You've done wonderfully at the farm, and I can't see things falling apart because you were away for ten minutes.

Rose seems to lighten up a little.

"Yeah. So. Milliways. If there's anywhere bad to get stuck for a while? It's not a bar. If I've got to be trapped, might as well have fun, huh? What's the drink of the house these days?"

*Snow grins*

In general? Asking Bar what she reccomends.

*she moves to Bar's side*

Well, Bar? What do you reccomend for a 'welcome back' celebration?

Rose watches the bar carefully.

When a glass of tequila appears, she just laughs.

"Barman's favourite, right? Or am I remembering fuzzy again?"

*a smile, and a drink (http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/2180) appears for Snow as well*

Your memory serves you well. Let's get a seat, I can fill you in on the past year. . .

She's glad to oblige.

"Holy hell, we'll be talking a while. Is this condensable so it doesn't take a year of details?"

*Snow leads Rose to her usual booth, pushing the book () to the side and sitting down. Once they've settled in, she takes a breath and begins*

The vandalisim to Bar was repaired and she's made a full recovery, as you can tell, the waitrats have stuck around and I helped Ratty give birth to a new litter of them, Bigby proposed on Christmas -- I still have your christmas present, by the way -- Dream took on the aspect of Nyaratholtep temporarily and everyone had nightmares for two weeks, Morpheus and Moiraine were married, Claire gave birth to Seth, Bigby and I were married and I had to find someone else to be my maid of honor, Svava left for Ragnarok and returned, Bernard and Tonks got married, and Millie killed a deer on her own when we were on vacation.

*she sips her drink*

And what have you been up to?

"..."

The silence is Rose staring, openmouthed, and trying to think of an appropriate answer.

"Administrating. And, um, we had a litter of pigs born? I think I just lost."

Considering it's only been two weeks for you, I can understand. Oh, and we had two lake parties while you were gone.

Wait here, I left the gift with Bar. . .

"I missed parties? Two? Damnit. We're having a huge birthday party this year and that's final, Snow White."

Now she notes the title.

And peeks at the front cover carefully, trying not to giggle.

She loses.

*she takes her seat again and pushes a small, brightly-wrapped package over to Rose*

Fine. I managed to dodge it this year, I doubt anyone who managed to find out about it will let me escape again.

*she recalls the book and facepalms*

And that would be the gift I recieved from Bar, who was the only one I knew from Milliways who remembered.

Very nervously, Rose begins to unwrap the package.

And then stares, with a wide-eyed "OMG" sort of look, and then squeals.

"MP3s! Holy shit, Snow, these are wicked expensive --"

*Snow grins*

You're my sister; it was worth it. And this counts as a combined Christmas and birthday gift, as you missed both.

"So of course you've gotta make me feel guilty that I've got nothing for you, eh?"

Rose narrows her eyes conspiratorially.

"I'll think of somethin'. You just wait."

*Snow smiles*

I look forward to it.

"You should."

*Snow's face falls as she recalls something*

One more thing I need to fill you in on. . . Goldilocks is here.

And that's when Rose's smirk vanishes.

"... You are fucking kidding me."

*Snow is quiet and reasonably professional with an underlying layer of rage*

I wish I was. I found out just after the kids' birthday party; I haven't seen her in a few weeks. The 'no violence' and 'no business' rules are harder to accept when dealing with someone you doubt will follow them.

Now she's twitching. It's that slightly rageful twitching.

"Where can I get a pistol?"

Rose has forgotten Bigby. She's not going to be defenseless.
