It's funny how things happen.

When one hasn't been to a place in a while, one may think about returning to it. But if one is Rose Red, one is worrying more about keeping things running in one's own place, stopping terrorist revolutions in one's own place, and of course throwing parties in one's own place.

This is why it's funny when Rose Red opens the door to what she thought was home.

And it's Milliways.

"... Nice."

"... What kind of information, hey?"

"Inadvertently getting someone to confess what's on their mind?"

"Depends on the person, current blood alcohol level, sexuality, marital status, pension for gambling and ability to be really downright rude."

He laughs. "Probably won't have that much success with me, then."

"Because you're ... married, not drunk, don't gamble and are quite able to be downright rude?" Rose guesses.

"Right on three counts; the fourth depends on who I'm talking to."

"Downright rude to everyone but your spouse of whatever gender, I figure?"

He grimaces.

"As I said...I have a lot on my mind. You wouldn't be able to help with a tricky situation that might result in most of my friends being pissed off at me, would you?"

"... ouch."

Rose looks suddenly just slightly apologetic. "Touched a bad one, did I? And, well. I guess it depends on what you might need. Did stop a revolution, a bit ago."

Which is dismissed as nothing. Which, perhaps to Tony, it is.

He raises an eyebrow. Stopping a revolution certainly isn't nothing. If anything it tells Tony this woman is capable of figuring a few things out.

"I talked to someone the other day. An enemy of mine. She's changed."

"To not really being so bad after all?"

It's a familliar experience.

"Or to be worse?"

"For the better."

"A plus. Where's the problem, then? Friends and family not believe you?"

"If I tell them they won't. It's just... I don't want to forgive her. I don't want to understand her. But I have to."

"No you don't."

There's a thoughtful pause.

"Anyone could be lying. Apologizing doesn't mean you have to forgive."

"I wouldn't put it past her. She betrayed me once, she'd do it again, but... I know the bar changes people. And I know how she is. Something about her is different."

"People can be ... I'm not even sure how to phrase it. Not what they seem. Sometimes better, sometimes not. I'm no genius in talking, but I deal with people a lot."

Well, really more like animals, but that's beside the point.

"If both parties won't come totally clean about everything - especially if one party is a group - you're screwed."

"Trust me, I know. She's not a person I would trust in any normal circumstance." He sighs. "I don't know. When I knew her on the outside she was pretty consistent in the way she behaved. And she was the same way when she came here. She sought me out, harassed me, belittled me... and I ignored her.

"She's not the kind of person to change her game but all of a sudden, for some reason she started talking to me, you know? Trying to have a conversation with me. And yesterday she... I asked her why she did what she did and she seemed sorry for it. Genuinely sorry."

Tony's voice is tense, confused.
