Owen Davies heard the harpsong in the upstairs hallway and asked politely if he could come along with Bran.

Therefore, both Bran Davies and Owen Davies are walking through the doorway to Milliways now.

[In which Owen Davies demonstrates the presence of a backbone! Accompanied by Bran, Owen listens to Dream of the Endless compliment his son, speaks politely to Mordred and invites Mordred to visit. Owen and Bran talk to Blodwen Rowlands and escape unscathed. Score: Davies 6, Blodwen 3. Also, Bran meets Liz Imbrie [slowtimed].)

Bran has indeed explained the difference to Owen. This does not mean that Owen understands it, or that he would trust Lord Morpheus any more if he did understand it.

"Thank you, my lord," Owen says tightly, averting his eyes from the dreams spinning in the Dream-lord's coat.

His robes do disturb many people. For Bran's sake, he sends them back to the Dreaming, leaving him in a black sweater and black slacks.

He is still barefooted.

"I regret that I have not paid my respects before now. Bran is a fine young man."

Owen twitches at the clothing shift, and his eyes flicker from side to side.

He manages not to flee, though.

"Thank you."

"Last February he did everyone a very great service, at no little risk to himself."

Somehow "everyone" manages to mean "everyone, everywhere, in every time". Its an Endless thing.

"Did you, Bran."

Owen does not want to know details. He knows already much more about last February than he would like to, and that is not very much at all.

Nevertheless he sets a hand lightly on Bran's shoulder, for a brief proud moment.

"He did."

Dream will say it, if Bran will not. Happily, he does let the subject go after that with only a faint smile,

"He was very lucky to have a father like you."

And, in many ways, Owen is more father to Bran than Morpheus was to his son.

He certainly did a better job.

"I have tried," Owen says. "I can only hope I have done well enough."

"I do not think that you should worry."

Says the Dream who was still Dream when Bran was an adult, with a smile that sits uncomfortably (but more real for the discomfort) on his face.

"I... well. I appreciate that, my lord." Owen looks away from that smile, out into the bar.

"Have a good evening, Owen. Bran."

He says after a few seconds. This thread is declared the last before Moiraine gets back from visiting Kitty, and thus;

"My lady has returned. I need to see if everything went well."
