Owen Davies heard the harpsong in the upstairs hallway and asked politely if he could come along with Bran.

Therefore, both Bran Davies and Owen Davies are walking through the doorway to Milliways now.

[In which Owen Davies demonstrates the presence of a backbone! Accompanied by Bran, Owen listens to Dream of the Endless compliment his son, speaks politely to Mordred and invites Mordred to visit. Owen and Bran talk to Blodwen Rowlands and escape unscathed. Score: Davies 6, Blodwen 3. Also, Bran meets Liz Imbrie [slowtimed].)

"Shame. Get a good horse underneth you and the wind in your air, and it's as close to flying as you can get."

"In my grandfather's day, people needed horses in our area. The train routes were not always in the right places, and the sea was still too far away. Now we have lorries and LandRovers, so no reason for the horses."

"I really do hate the modern day. I really, really do."

"It has its advantages," Bran says shortly.

Mordred meets Bran's eyes, and smiles.

Oddly.

"Mmm. She...she did a good thing. When she took you to him."

Owen raises his head silently.

"I know," Bran says. "I realised that months ago." A smile is beginning to grow on his face.

Softly,

"Camelot...it was a dream, yeah. Fucked you up, twisted you til you fit. You won't ever know what it is like to kill someone, and enjoy it. To watch all the scheming and politics. Your farm...sounds so nice, compared to that." The prince shakes his head, and gets to his feet.

"I...should be off. Have fun at school, brother mine." He inclines his head to the both of them.

"I do not know how the door works, or if this is possible at all," Owen says, twisting his hands together awkwardly. "But if it is possible, if you should ever like to come and see what our farm is like..."

The invitation hovers there, half-expressed.

Mordred freezes, various metaphors about foxes in headlights spring to mine.

"You...you mean it, sir?"

Owen hesitates, but says, "Yes. Bran comes to see you often enough, it is time you returned the visit."

For that single instant, Mordred looks like a boy. Older then Bran, but still a boy.

"Th-thank you, sir." He's grinning, wildly. "Thank you."

And with that, he vanishes. One very happy ghost, indeed.

Bran beams. "Diolch yn fawr, Da. I really appreciate it, that you have invited him. He does too."

Owen is still startled by Mordred's abrupt disappearance, but his lips turn upwards in a near-smile. "It is the least I could do, bachgen."
