[oom: Weekly canonical update and reaction. Contains some swearing.]
There is a Guppy in the bar, at a booth, with a plastic bag of pieces of a broken vase, which would appear to have been grey with small black and darker grey dots on.
He has a tube of superglue, and is attempting to restore it to a state good enough for his housemate not to kill him. So far he's got about three out of twenty large pieces in place, and hasn't even started trying to add the little bits.

"Hello." he said brightly, "What've you got there?"

He forces a smile. "My housemate's going to kill me."

"Guppy Sandhu, nice to meet you Adric."
He smiles, but his eyes don't quite match his expression.
"I would love some help, thanks."
He gets a piece of paper out of his pocket and draws a sort of beer glass shape.
"It was sort of this shape before I broke it."

He had something to do now, and it was a puzzle. He would be quite thankful for this really, as he was probably beginning to bother Bar with the requests for more junk-drawer items to build things with.

He pulls out the three he'd already glued back together.
"I managed to get these three bits together."

Guppy holds up the superglue.
"Looks like you're a pro."

A crooked smile then, "I like puzzles." And so he did, he was better with numbers of course, but shapes weren't difficult.

He holds up the tube again. "This stuff here is superglue. It dries in one minute hard, five minutes rock hard. I'm an Accident and Emergency doctor, and the number of times we've had people stuck to things with this stuff means we now just have a number for 'stuck with superglue' to save time. I'm just warning you that when we stick this thing back together, if either of us gets stuck to the pottery it may result in loss of skin."

Another few minute rearrangements before he nodded, "I think that's done it, they should be in the right places."
no subject
"Great, thanks. Now all we need is the glue. One piece at a time I think."
He puts a little glue on the topmost piece and holds it together.
"So what do you do back home?"

Again he leaves out the part about his death saving the entire span of human existance.

"I can fix that good as new, if you want."

"Could you please? That would be brilliant because my housemate is going to kill me if she discovers her favourite and only vase is now a mosaic."

He picks up bits and shows Michael.
"The grey and black spotty part is the outside. The black shiny part is the inside. The white base is the bottom. It should look a bit like a beer glass when it's the right shape."

It's slower, but he gets the job done.

He smiles. "If little Alex inherits that then he could become very popular with friends who have broken their toys."

"Is this a sort of magic then?"
