Catherine's in the bar. Exhausted, dirty, blood-spattered, sweaty, sandy, and thoroughly caught up with current canon ~~including the Event that Must Not Be Named~~. She's nursing a glass of water--come catch her before she heads off to the showers.

Jack's sitting at the bar and notices the rather dishevelled woman sitting next to him. More importantly, he notices the blood. His Security-sense is definitely tingling.

"Uh...are you all right?" he asks, a little tentatively.

"What?" Catherine notices, for the first time, the blood on her clothes. "Aw, crap... Sorry, I just worked at a crime scene and I'm still in fatigues, as it were..." She flashes him a rueful, apologetic grin. "I'll get showered up right away."

"Well as long as it's none of your own, and you're not the reason someone else lost theirs..." he says with a slight, wry smile.

He holds out his hand for her to shake. "Jack Bauer. You're in law enforcement?"

"No, believe me, I just clean up afterwards," she grins back, shaking his hand. "You could say that--I'm Catherine Willows, I'm a CSI in Las Vegas. Are you a police officer?"

"Not exactly; former federal agent. And if you're a CSI in Vegas, I'm thinking you probably know Sara Sidle then."

"Partner and friend," Catherine says cheerfully. "Do you work with Tony Almeida?"

He nods. "I used to. You know Tony?"

"I met him one of the first times I came into the bar--I was at his wedding..." Catherine beams. "He's a really sweet guy."

"You look beautiful."

And absolute sincerity shines from the face and vocie of one Hank McCoy.

"In these? You're kidding," Catherine laughs as she goes to kiss him. "I'm filthy..."

He kisses her deeply. When he has breath to speak again, slightly flushed he grins.

"To me, you will always be beautiful. No matter what."

She blushes, lacing her fingers through his as she looks up at him shyly. "I have a favour to ask..." she says hesitantly.

He smiles softly at her touch.

"Anything I can do. Anything at all."

There isn't any hesitation in his voice. She has earned his trust.

She bites her lip for a moment. "Gil Grissom--one of my best friends, a man I work with--is getting married on October 1st, and I'm taking Lindsey along to the ceremony... would you--" she hesitates, "--would you come with me as well?"

he smiles and leans in to kiss her again. he puncutates his words with small kisses, just because she makes him happy.

"I..(kiss)would...(kiss)love...(kiss)to...(kiss)go...(kiss)with...(kiss)you(kiss)."

Then he grins.

"I would be honored, Catherine."

She's laughing by the time he gets through, bright red all over and holding onto him as she leans against the stool. "I wouldn't ask anyone else..."

"Then I am more honored still, because I wouldnt think of going with anyone else. My care for you hasnt changed, and isnt going to."

he cups his hands behind her and just glories in touching her.

She rests her head against his shoulder, curling up next to him with a contented smile. "I have a bet going with the groom--well, one of the grooms, Jack--that I can get Gil into a dress..."

One eyebrow rises and he grins.

"Need any help?"

he laughs and strokes her hair softly.

"You are marvelous, you know that?"

"Maybe." Catherine grins impishly up at him. "I've already got help from another friend--a centaur from a fairy world, he's a genius. But three heads are better than two, right? I'm gonna need all the help I can get..."

She blushes, shrugging lightly and cuddling closer. "I'm happy with being just ordinary. Honest."

He snuggles her and lifts her chin to look in her eyes.

"To me you will never be ordinairy."

Then he kisses her again, long and hard and passionately.

She emerges breathless, putting a hand against his chest. "Take it easy, there..." Her voice is gentle, warm with amusement. "We've got all the time in the world, trust me."

"I know."

His eyes sparkle.

"I just enjoy your presence."

He settles back some.

"What goes in your life today?"
