Charlie and Seth are playing the face game in a booth. Seth makes a face and then Charlie imitates it; or Charlie makes a face and Seth imitates it; and then they both laugh and laugh.

It's a very simple game and everybody wins.

"Scared how?" Charlie says, frowning.

I don't honestly think he's gonna understand that it's a good thing that I didn't screw the guy.

" . . . you don't think Nathan's going to understand?"

No.

"I'm not sure I understand. Some bloke flirted with you, nothing happened, and you're worried Nathan's going to be upset?"

He shakes his head.

It was more than that, Charlie. I dragged him up stairs and came very close to sleeping with the guy and then I stopped it.

"Ah. Well, that does change matters.

"You know, you might want to rethink this Nathan thing."

How do you mean rethink?

"Rethink. Reconsider. You haven't been too happy about the whole thing, as far as I can tell. You're hardly jumping for joy at being with him."

It's not that, Charlie. I mean yes, rethinking is a good idea bu I am thrilled to be with him. It just freaks me out.

"Because being thrilled and being freaked out are synonymous."

Damn it Charlie... Take moment and think about it. Things are getting really good with Nate. Too good. Thing is I run when things are good.

"You know, recognizing you have a problem is only the first step--next you have to act on it, yeah? Stop the behavior in order to change?"

Yeah, I know.

"So . . ." He looks at her patiently. "If you want to stay with this Nathan kid, you stop running. Even if it's good."

*she nods*

Yeah

"Yeah," Charlie says quietly.

Seth leans out of Penny's arms towards him, so Charlie takes him and gives him a kiss. "It's about his naptime. Talk to you later?"
