(Very OOM: Ace's horrible, no good, very bad day)

The door to the lake isn't usually the one people come back through.

It is a long-established fact that Ace isn't most people.

So, there's an Ace in the doorway.

A very pale Ace.

Who's leaning on the doorframe heavily.

And doesn't look inclined to move.

Um. Help?

"Good."

He offers his arm, happy to see the steel of pain (mostly) gone fron her frame, and wonders if she can walk all right. "Come on, I'll get you something to drink. What happened?"

"Someone wasn't too happy to be rescued. Prolly 'cause I intend t'hand him over to the council." She takes the offered arm, leaning perhaps a little more than is normal, but she's exhausted, and has been under more strains than the human body was designed for.
"A drink sounds lovely."

Remiel supports her as much as she needs-- he doesn't have any issues in that area. It's an angel's job, after all-- and helps her back to his table. A doorframe is lovely, but a chair, now there's a nicely supportive piece of furniture for the tired.

"Sounds like a rough old time-- did it go well?" He pauses. "Or, at least, end well?"

He flags over a waitrat.

Ace would have to agree that a chair is decidedly better than a doorframe, even at the risk of sounding disloyal to the doorframe.

And she smiles.

"Yeah. It ended brilliantly." He had said she'd done good. That's all Ace ever needs.

He beams happily at that.

"I'm very glad to hear it. 'Not in vain' and all that. What's your poison?"

"Hot cocoa, please. It'd be bad form to show up in front of the Council sauced." Besides. Cocoa makes most anything better.

"I suppose it would. Same here, really..." He looks to the waitrat. "One hot cocoa and one coffee, if you will."

As the waitrat scurries off, Ace relaxes a little more into the chair.

...

Any more, and she'd be melting.

"Ever have one of those days that makes the rest of your life seem relatively normal?"

"I think I've had a few of those, yes. They're usually very stressing." Said dryly.

"It must have been quite spectacular to make Milliways seem any kind of normal."

"... I set a trap for a genocidal lunatic Time Lord, nearly got squashed by his TARDIS, then chased him half-way across the universe both physically and temporally before knocking him inna time rift and then had to rescue his sorry arse when his TARDIS came apart at the seams, an then he threw the knife at me."

Ace wins.

She so does.

Remiel blinks, as their drinks arrive, and then grins.

"...if there were an award for busy days, you would definitely get it."

"Brilliant. I'll have to create one, just so I can frame it and hang it in the control room." She grins crookedly at him before taking a sip of her cocoa.

Oh. Bliss.

"You should. Nice sized, with those gold fancy letters," Remiel chuckles softly, taking a long drink of coffee.
