"Of being vivisected," Naraht says darkly. "Lincoln has lived all of the life that he can remember...which isn't much because his memory starts as an adult not long ago...at some place called the Institute. He and his friends are kept quite sheltered and ignorant by the people in charge there. You would not believe what all he's had to have explained to him."

Naraht pauses for a few bites. "Anyway, the Institute runs a lottery. They are told that the winners thereof get to go live on some island paradise.

"Lincoln found out differently. The winners of this lottery wind up on dissection table for some reason known only to the twisted minds who run that place."

The vapor coming from under Naraht's body takes on a decidedly acrid scent. "Apparently Lincoln and his friend Jordan went back to try to discover more of what is going on...but didn't take any back-up with them."
