[OOM: Certain facts are not very easy to ignore.]

Heero in the bar, sitting on a stool, with a bandaged wrist. He's operating under the pretense of his usual observation tactics, but if anyone were to look closely enough, they'd notice he's not paying attention to anything at all.

Hmm.

"Greetings."

And his sight is suddenly invaded by something very pink.

"...Hello."

Pink is pleasant.

"I'm Glinda."

Pink is... pink.

"Heero Yuy."

She beams. "You're cute. So what's troubling you?"

All in all, even if it was a stupid mistake, the wrist has become a good throaway answer. "Carelessness."

...and he's not cute.

She inspects his wrist and shrugs. "Hm. A little magic could fix that right up. It could be worse. You could wear blue gingham."

...don't say the word magic to him right now.

"Magic is trouble, without a place," he says, and leaves it at that. "Gingham?"

"Ahhh...you're one of those." She pats his uninjured hand. "Nevermind then."

"Yes. Checkered fabric."

"...one of what?"

"People that get all prickly when you mention magic."

"I don't," Heero says, "Normally."

"What happened?"

Well. If he chooses to notice anything over towards the fireplace, he might see the end of a braid trailing over the arm of a comfy looking chair.

And that, he does notice eventually.

He could avoid, but he's refusing to let any of this interrupt his normal behavior anymore. It's not... right.

So he walks over, and tugs gently on the braid by way of greeting.

Duo tilts his head back and blinks up at Heero.

"...hey."

The greeting isn't exactly up to usual par. But that doesn't mean it wasn't such a good idea to come over here... right?

"Hello."

Heero lets the braid drop.

"You okay?" Duo's tone is tentative, at best.

Heero is very tempted to give a throwaway answer, as he has to anyone else that asked tonight; but really, Duo deserves better. "Too much thinking," he says, simply. "You?"

Duo breathes out a long sigh. "Almost punched Puck in the face. Missed. Probably a good thing."

It doesn't take long to connect those dots.

"...it was him."

Duo winces. "Yeah."

"Ah."

So then it's just a question of whether to track Puck down or let him show up on his own time.

Duo curls up on the chair, hugging his knees. "I'm sorry about all this, Heero."

"Stop apologizing," Heero says. "It's not your fault."
