In the past three days, Lilly's eaten half a bowl of tomato soup and part of a grilled cheese sandwich. Even for a dead girl, this isn't really enough, but it's not hunger so much as restlessness that prompts her to slip downstairs, late at night. Bar supplies her with a cup of coffee, and she takes it to a shadowy booth near the stairs.
She's not sure if coming downstairs now, still sleepless and with the hurt still raw, is a good idea.
At least there's coffee, and booze she can pour into it, and an exit handy. And it's not like she doesn't need to get used to this.
[ooc: not plot locked, but please ping da emmy gee before tagging.]

Lilly's one of them.
Susan's worried-- and one look at her friend simply makes it worse. She's moving before she thinks.
"Lilly?"

"Hey."

Weary. Defeated. Miserable.
"... oh, Lilly."
no subject
"Yeah."
She's aware this is not her prettiest day ever. For once, she doesn't care.

"Will'ee-- will'ee sit with me for a little, mayhap?"

Still one more on his list.
Mal has coffee of his own, and without a word, he pushes his mug in front of Lilly so that she pretty much has to share the booze if she wants to be able to reach her own serving of it.

He still says nothing, but he does order a bowl of Cheetos and begins to munch, making sure the bowl is placed in between the two of them.

She's assuming he knows. It doesn't make her any more talkative.

He could sit here all gorram night.

There's no relief in Lilly's voice. There's... not much of anything, really.

I wasn't sure how long it'd been - how're you -
*The sentence breaks off; from the looks of Lilly, it's all too easy to tell.*

"You heard."
It's not a question.

*Meg holds out her half-drunk coffee cup; it's a futile gesture, but the only one she can think to make.
She doesn't want to take the time to detour to the bar to get her a full one.*

Lilly's been in the dark booth for a while.
He let her bide alone for a time. Gods know he understands that. But now he approaches, with his own coffee and half a bowl of beef stew.
no subject
"Hey."
no subject
He slides into the booth next to her.
Doesn't ask how she fares.
The bottle of vanilla vodka has had significant inroads made on it. His (unspiked) coffee and the stew are set down with soft clinks, close enough for her to easily steal a bite; this is not an accident.

"I talked to people."
She makes no movement towards the food, but she hasn't picked up her drink since he sat down either.

He's waiting to see if this is 'I ventured out of my room, so this is progress' or 'and there's more bad news ahead.'

But he approaches. He can't possibly not.

He stands by the table awkwardly. He wants to sit next to her, hold her, but he doesn't think she wants it, right now. But sitting down on the opposite bench just feels too damned far away.

Circumstances are very, very far from normal.
He sits down across from her, because standing is, he thinks, worse.
"I'm sorry."
