Puck does not stagger downstairs. He ambles. There is a difference.

He also is not wearing a shirt.

He also has a bottle of absinthe drawn on his back.

The fae ambles over to the bar and drops his head onto the countertop.

Oddly enough, he may have had a few absinthe hallucinations last night.

"Why?"

The blank gaze is unwavering.

He half-shrugs against Havelock's shoulder.

"You can hardly trust me, can you?"

For example, with Randall Flagg.

If Havelock was someone else, perhaps he would say something like: But that is your choice. I couldn't change you if I tried. I don't want to change you.

But, being himself,

"It makes life interesting."

Puck ... snorts.

"Oh, very."

Havelock shrugs elegantly and sips his coffee.

If is clear he considers his point made.

The fae gives him a shove. Not a very hard shove.

Just kind of a "you suck" shove.*

Havelock gracefully accepts the shove as his due.

Mmm, coffee.

Puck ignores him.

For about thirty seconds.

"Do you know," he says irritably, "that it is impossible to remain cross with you?"

Havelock blinks at him serenely.

"No, I did not," he says after careful consideration.

Although no one really remains angry with him for long. Irritated beyond belief, yes.

Puck slumps against him, rolling his eyes.

He's still not wearing a shirt.

He feels that this is important.

Havelock strokes his shoulder soothingly. Or... something.

Of course that's not a purr.

Move along.

Havelock sips his coffee in a manner that says of course not, and keeps on. If it's a distraction from the hangover, then why not?

Puck nuzzles Havelock's shoulder a little.

Innocently.

Havelock smiles in a faint, distracted kind of way.

But there's still gentle stroking.

"Are you terribly busy today, Havelock?" he murmurs.

"Not terribly," the assassin says.

"Hmm."

That is a very meaningful "hmm."

Indeed.

"Indeed."

He looks up at him with innocent blue eyes.

"As for me, I hardly think I'll be spending much time on my feet."

Havelock blinks calmly.

"Oh."

Eyeroll.

"... Every time I attempt to be subtle, you have to spoil it."

"You assume that I require confirmation to have understood."

Slow smile.

Puck grins back.

"It is I who requires the confirmation. At times I fear I haven't yet corrupted you sufficiently."

Slight surprise.

"Really?"
