"Ho, there!" calls Gimli, and no, he hasn't got an entrance post just now. "There you are. I'd been looking for you."

Amanda would poke him she is too comfortable with a book laid across her legs sipping her latte. But she does see Silk and it has been too long in her opinion, "Hello Silk."

Jack does.

Or rather... accidentally hits him with a stray jacks ball.

...ack?

Silk starts, because he'd been drowsing. Then grins upon seeing the dwarf.

'Gimli! Just the dwarf! How are you?'

Silk stretches languidly and smiles. 'Hello Amanda. How goes it with you?'

Gimli smiles, finding himself a seat that doesn't require too much scrambling. "Ah, I do well enough for myself," he says. "There's been work enough to keep me busy, and I've been invited to a client's wedding. Don't know the girl, I'm afraid, but that's of no great importance. How is it withi you?"

He jumps and blinks as the ball hits him, then looks around for the perpertrator of said heinous crime. Small eyes blink rapidly on sight of Jack and he wanders over curiously.

'Good afternoon. Your ball?'

"Very very very very sorry."

He holds out his hand, palm up.

Give it back? Please?

"Oh things are as they always are. Sometimes good sometimes not. At the moment though things are going well. How about with yourself?" She is no longer paying attention to her book but it still rests comfortably in place.

'Profitable.' This smiles has edges. 'I've been trying to get in to see you since Halloween but the bar has been rather uncooperative in that regard.'

His voice takes on a note a feigned innocence. 'Are you very busy just now?'

'Things go very well with myself, thank you.' He slumps relaxedly. 'The half of the world consisting of my friends is peaceful and happy, the half consisting of my enemies is at war and meticulously slaughtering the rest of my enemies. Things really couldn't be better.'

He polishes his fingernails casually on the front of his doublet. 'And needless to say, business is good. Been keeping busy yourself then? Training and whatnot?'

Gimli allows himself some thought. "Why, not at the moment, no," he says at last. "Which is not to say that I've been idle up to now- but at the moment, no. Had you something in mind?"

Silk is rather taken aback by the apologising but he's not a cruel man. 'Certainly.' He places the ball back in the palm and adds, 'Think nothing of it.'

There's a small but graceful bow. 'They call me Silk. What are you playing?'

"That is always adventagious. TO have one's enimes taking care of themselves." she grins with wicked approval.

"So I can see. And yes I've been keeping busy. Mostly behaving myself. Training daily despite the cold. Once the forest thaws out we should play again." she did so enjoy that day. Other then the part where she fell.

Silk smirks and draws a pouch out of his pocket. A large, bulging pouch which is held out for Gimli to take.

'Have a look. There has been some interest in the mithril. To put it mildly.' He laughs wickedly. 'I haven't even shown them a demonstration yet. I love dealing with Arends.'

"Jack of the Frost."

He tosses the jacks (clutched in his hand) hurls the ball up, makes a grab for them, catches five, and grabs the ball before it hits the floor.

"And these are jacks."

'It really is good of them,' he agrees. 'I should send a card to show my gratitude.'

He waves a rat over and orders some spiced wine. 'Would you like a drink? And certainly we should, it never hurts to keep in practice. Although I tend to make it a habit to stay firmly indoors when things get this cold.'

Gimli takes the pouch, hefts it, and whistles before prying it open and whistling again as he runs the contents through his fingers. "Indeed," he murmurs. "And I've had enough time to fashion a pair of chain armlets of the stuff, and begin on the rest of a proper hauberk. These Arends seem an eager people, to jump so at mere description!"

His eyes light up immediately. 'Well now. A game I haven't seen before.'

He watches and immediately begins to work out a way to cheat at it. 'You're talented at it I think. Is five your best score?'

"Why thank you. I could use an irish coffee please. That is a wise practice. However it is worth my wild to train in the cold. It's a healthy practice for keeping my head."

"Oh, speaking of cards. Did you by chance get my invitation?"

There's a lot of gold in there. Silk grins. 'Arends are nobles. The commissions are from the Mimbrates - they wear armour constantly and their brains are in their muscles. They have to be, otherwise they fall over a lot.'

He waves a rat over. 'I know the King there and have friends. They accept my word that the stuff is what I say it is...' Which is rather stupid of them, but they were lucky in this case. Silk isn't always so truthful. '...because once they thrust me then they would never insult me by doubting my claims. Therefore - payment in advance. Enough to cover the metal itself at least, we'll hit them with the final bill once the work is done.'

He sends the rat on its way, then shakes his head. 'Invitation? No I'm sorry, I've not been to the bar yet.'

Fell straight into a comfortable chair and let the rats come to him. Lazy day today.

'Why, what's going on?'

"It is not."

He wrinkles his nose.

"But only if I cheat."

Gimli nods. "Fair enough. I daresay we might keep them eager by presenting some part of the work for inspection as I finish the full set. The timing I leave to you, of course, but it is a thing we dwarves have found- no matter how great a man's trust in another, he nonetheless likes to see some measure of what he's paid for ere the end. Have you some idea of the measurements I must work to?"

Amanda hasn't had one of those days in a while. Maybe after the holidays.

"Well I don't know if you know about Christmas but it's a holiday that is celebrated on Earth. So I am throwing a Christmas party on Saturday night out by the lake. It will be in an insolated tent to keep out the cold and there will be heaters. It starts around 8 o'clock. You are of course invited."
