And here we have the Washicus pilotica in its natural habitat, carrying on an animated, one-sided conversation with Bar.
Don't bother eavesdropping. It's in Chinese.
So is the gift list he's holding.
He's so not above using his linguistic skills in an underhanded way when he has to.

"We have playeded lots of games most of the time," she informs him. "The Great Valley is warm."
This said with a touch of disapproval. Scotland is possibly not ideal climate for her.

"I don't like the cold that much, either," he confides as he sets her on the Bar. "Unless it's snowing. Everything between me and the lack of climate control gets forgiven if snow's involved."

She is a deprived child.

"You mean to tell me you've never seen snow."
Maybe it's not that big a surprise; tropical climate, and all. But still, he ain't gonna argue with the "deprived" bit.

Ducky pauses, following a train of Logic. "Is it cold?"
Her tone is plainly doubtful.

He puts a hand on the Bar, next to Ducky.
"Bar? Can you give me a snowball? A real one, I mean."
And lo and behold, there is a nicely-packed snowball.
"That's what happens when you get a big handful of snow and sort of roll it together," he explains.

Then she pokes it. "Cold..."
An experimental handful is scooped out of the snowball, and held cupped in two tiny 'hands'.
Hee!

"Yeah," he agrees, grinning, and digs a tiny bit of snow out of the snowball himself. "People play games with it. You make a whole bunch of these and throw them at each other -- it doesn't hurt," he hastens to add. "Not if you do it right."
no subject
"No, I see. It is squishy."
Also cold. She sticks the icy fingertip into her mouth briefly to warm it up again.
no subject
"Careful you don't hold it for too long. It might hurt."

Frostbite has never been much of a problem for Ducky.

Especially if you're cold-blooded.

Carefully, the little dino returns the half-melted snow back to the ball from whence it came.
Her little 'feet' patter in the wet slush surrounding it.
