Duel by the Lake!

Windows 95 waits for her opponent, her face stony. She seems unaffected by the cold night air.

"Huh."

He shrugs.

"Raph used to have magic allergies too. S'why he's a human."

"Raph... I don't believe I have met that person. Was he not a human before?"

"Nope, he was a turtle. He's one of the oldest security members."

"So desu ne? How old is he?"

'Oh, younger then me. I mean, he's been on it the longest."

"Ah, I see..." She nods. "Was it because he was a turtle?"

"Huh?"

Tim just got himself confused.

"His problem with magic," she specifies, "Was it because he was not human?"

"Oh!"

Tim thinks about this, then shakes his head.

"Naw, naw, it's cause his reality was a little twisted."

She tilts her head. "Twisted? Did somebody bend it?"

"Er..."

Tim stares blankly at her.

"Possibly? It's not a normal style of universe."

She frowns, thinking on all those other people who only know her kind as boxes. "Did he have the same problem I do?"

"Yes. I tried to fix his paint job, and it screwed up. then someone else tried to fix my fix, and he turned human."

...

"Paint job?" She blinks.

"Some one had turned him pink."

Blink.

Blink.

"Why would somebody do that?"

"It was a prank."

"How cruel!" she exclaims, "I hope the perpetrator was brought to justice!"

Tim stares at her for a moment.

"Actually, it was really funny."

Ellipsis. Blink.

"To him?"

"After a while, yeh.."

Tim tries to keep a straight face.

Ellipsis the second.

"...but it could only be fixed with magic?"

"Well, yes, magic caused it after all."

Tim is starting to wonder about 95.

She blinks and thinks this over. "Didn't he have trouble when the spell was first cast to change his color, then?"

95 has a very different sense of humor. She's Japanese, after all...

He scratches his head.

"Damn if I remember. That was almost ten years ago, my time."
