Samantha sat in her booth, her hand over her eyes as she stares dejectedly at the plate of waffles on the floor.

She should pick them up. But crying sounds a lot more fun right now.

"I'm Samantha." She looks down and chews on her lip. "Jaina threw it at me."

"Oh. That doesn't seem like her." Even if Jaina has her mother's temper.

"It's nice to meet you, though it would seem the circumstances aren't ideal." Is he flirting? Probably, though he's not consciously of it, or of any wedding bands Samantha is wearing.

"Well we got into a fight."

She sticks out her hand, yeah, the left one. "Nice meeting you too."

He extends his left hand, which since they don't shake hands in his world seems perfectly normal. At which point he sees the rings. Strangely, despite a large cultural divide, the significance of such rings registers. His tone changes very slightly.

"I'm surprised at Jaina. But then the more I learn about her, the more surprised I get. Maybe the pressure of planning a wedding is getting her?"

"No, it's her being a selfish little bint." Sam grits out. Then blinks. "She just...isn't fair."

A selfish Jedi? Impossible! A selfish Solo? Not as unlikely, though still surprising.

"Should I ask what happened? Maybe I can talk to her. See, I think of her as family, and maybe be able to help." Or not. That whole Joiner thing still seems odd and confusing.

"No...I don't want to bring others in it." Sam says softly. "Thank you though."

"Well, if you change your mind, let me know.

"In the meanwhile, you should perhaps consider getting a fresh plates of cakes." Lando has never seen a waffle before.

"Thanks. And nah, I'm not hungry anymore." Sam shrugs. "I wasn't that hungry to begin with."

Lando picks up the plate and the waffles.

"Where do you come from?"

"Earth. You don't have to do that." Sam gestures towards the plate. "I can do it."

"As you wish." Lando might be a bit of a gentleman, but not so much of one as to not let a woman do things herself.

"Interesting world, Earth. And certainly the dominant one here."

"Oooh yeah. Lots of Earthy people."

"Strange thing, to have some many people here from one planet. And so many humans, at that. Where I come from, humans are close to dominant, but there are always plenty of other races around. I can't say that I've met a non-human aside from...Snowball, I think it was."

"I met a few nonhumans. Some vampires and some superhumans. They're around." Sam nods.

"Superhumans...yes, I'd heard about those, from a young woman named Steph. I guess that would stand out, but to a Wookiee or a Mon Calamari, there might be no difference. And even these vampires, from what I'm told, look human.

"Though I have made the point of steering clear of such beings." Lando still has his doubts they exist, but won't argue the point with those who accept their reality.

"Well, smart. They can be kind of mean." Sam half smiles.

"So my friend Amanda has told me. And if something bothers her, then I know better than to look for them." He smiles, giving for a moment the somewhat intrigued smile he saves for Amanda.

Sam nods. "Yeah...that's the truth."

Lando notes that if nothing else, Samantha's mood has brightened a bit.

"Well, as you seem to have your plate in hand again, I think I will go and see who else is visiting today. Glad to meet you, Samantha."

"Nice meeting you too, Lando. Thank you." Sam smiles.
