In the bar, an angel is moving.
He might have been sitting, still as a statue and pale as one, in the corner.
Or he might have come in by the door.
Xas has learned to blend, after so long a time wingless.
He stops by the bar, laying one hand on the surface lightly, almost wonderingly. And then he orders a glass of wine, white, and tasting delicately of fruit.
And then he finds an empty booth and sits, sipping his drink lazily and watching the people go by.
Xas has made quite a study of them, over the years, after all. Humans, that is. Possibly it's time for him to broaden his horizons.

Confusion clouds his eyes again.
"I don't--"
A breath.
"You wanted to kill me, when you knew."

The confusion (anger) twists and hovers between them, an uneasy bond. Lucifer closes his eyes briefly.
"I might have killed him, had that been the case in my reality."
no subject
"He knows what he is about, right enough, and he uses us all."
And then, even more softly.
"I believed He loved me."
no subject
"I have no doubt He did. Maybe even does. But love and fair treatment are a far cry apart in the eyes of the Throne."
no subject
"You're right. But then you usually are."
He doesn't manage a smile, but the tension in his frame relaxes, just a little.
One finger still circles the rim of his wineglass.

"An unpopular opinion, but I thank you for it."
no subject
"You're welcome to it, truthfully. I've become more resigned than I would prefer, but not to everything."

He's thinking about the wings. Easy connections aside, they're still talking at an odd kind of cross-purposes.

Lucifer and God both, really. Except there are some things that aren't so easily done as that.
"It isn't much, really, not in the grand scheme of things. But it's more than I've done before."
His smile is wry, and vaguely mocking.

He pauses.
"Have you met Raguel?"
no subject
Xas means that in just about every way possible.
"Why?"
no subject
He looks down at his hands, frowning, and then back up.
"Which I suppose is a fair enough ambition if there's any chance of success, but..."
no subject
Xas looks startled.
"I can understand avoiding Michael and the like, because they have no imagination, but--"
And then he blinks.
"Oh. I think that is limited to me."
no subject
Lucifer sucks in a breath.
"Yes. That's just you, at least to my knowledge. And Raguel is not one of mine. His circumstances are fairly unique."
no subject
"I am, as you can see, not a stranger to that. Though he is not like me, really."
He pauses, looking thoughtful.
"Not like me at all."
no subject
Lucifer's quirks right back.
"You'd need to pick up a large dose of cynicism first."
no subject
Xas rubs at his cheek, amused.
no subject
"That too."
