He did--it makes him look up and smile. "Hey."

"Is for horses."

But it earns Charlie another kiss.

Charlie rolls his eyes and says, "Good day, beloved of my heart, how do you fare?"

"This beloved fares pretty damn well, since he's got a beer and some pizza and a Charlie. How you doin', tiger?"

"Well, it's Christmas, no disasters have occured--which is very good for a holiday around here--and I have a Darien. I am brilliant right now.

"May have to get some pizza for myself, though."

He points to a plate of pizza.

"Let it never be said I don't make it a point to feed you."

He munches on his own before grinning to Charlie. There's quite a bit of CHEESE in his grin, but it's a good grin either way.

"What you up to, gorgeous?"

"You are an excellent provider." He takes a slice and bites in.

"Just makin' music." He gives Darien a pizza-flavored kiss.

He smiles into the kiss before leaning against...whatever.

"Yeah, I'd heard the music. You're really easy to find around here."

Another kiss.

"Thank god."

"Yeah, rather difficult to be a stealthy musician." He licks pizza sauce off his fingers. "Wouldn't hide from you, though, love."

"Maybe if you were doing the 007 theme or something."

He smirks at Charlie before pulling him close in a one-armed hug.

"Good to know, though. I sorta like being around you if you didn't notice."

"I suspected as much." He leans his head on Darien's shoulder and offers him a bite from his slice of pizza.

Was he expecting a hug? From a couch with fangs? Probably not. The puppy at his feet, maybe.

Charlie looks under the piano and rubs the puppy's head carefully with the toe of his boot. "Hello, Nicky," he says with a grin. "Happy Christmas."

Nick grins and holds out a package.

"Merry Christmas, Charlie."

He scoops up Dante and sits beside Charlie.

"I...bought you something but I wasn't quite sure you'd be around to accept it."

Charlie takes the gift and hugs Nick. "Thanks. I did tell you things changed, yeah? There's something for you under the tree, too."

He nods.

"Yes, but..."

Charlie had about as much relationship luck as Nick did, only his was spread out over an 800 year life.

"I'm glad to hear that you're staying and...it seems to be for a while."

Charlie grins and blushes a little, nodding. "Yeah. I think it's going to be . . . a while." He plays with the turquoise necklace around his neck.

Nick knows that look.

"Good news to me. We'd...we'd have missed you."

He hugs Nick again. "I'd've missed you too.

"I met someone. Probably completely obvious."

He chuckles and the puppy tucks his head under Nick's hand. He gets petting for it as Nick speaks.

"Yes, I'd...figured that."

"Yeah," Charlie murmurs. "Probably silly to place all my happiness on one person . . . but it's better than not placing it on anyone, I suppose."

"It's never silly to place your happiness anywhere. People...can surprise you."
