"Good morning, Sara."

"Morning, Hank," she says absently, testing a luminol-soaked swab for blood. "How're you?"

"I am fairly well. How are you, today? You seem to be working hard."

He smiles as he watches.

"Well, Griss is on paternity leave for the next few weeks. Catherine and I will be splitting supervision of the night shift." She chuckles wryly, capping a swab. "And the criminals of Las Vegas do not feel 'goodwill to men' could possibly apply to them."

"Interesting. "

He smiles and nods.

"They never do. I hope things stay uneventful for you, for the duration. It does get annoying when things start to get... fun."

"Frankly, I will be thrilled if we get through it without one of us getting kidnapped or shot at."

"Then I will definitely redouble my good thoughts and prayers for you and yours."

he smiles.

"The longer i know tou, the more your life sounds like mine, with regular but weird criminals substituted for all the aliens."

She snorts. "We would get the normal ones. Robbery, trick rolls, drunkards and the like. And we also get cases that make you wonder if there is any decency left in the world. It's...yeah."

He shakes his head.

"Did you manage to have a good Christmas Day?"

"Oh, yes." And a soft smile comes over her face. "It was very low-key: Barry and I exchanged gifts, watched old movies, things like that. Lovely."

"Good. I am glad you got some time like that."

He grins wide.

"I spent parts of yesterday with Catherine. It was nice."
