Mara Jade-Skywalker in the bar, still fiddling with a history book.

She has a cup of caff, and a bowl of strizzleberries. Come and poke her!

And there's an empath, in a green dress, and a very familiar necklace. She's hiding a brown-paper-wrapped package behind her back. "Hey, Mara."

Mara glances up and smiles. "Hey Val."

Val pulls the package from behind her back. "Merry Christmas, Mara."

In the package is a handmade dress for Mara, in a conservative, but lovely style, along with a simple silver bracelet.

A card reads:

Mara opens the gift and reads the card, smiling softly. "Oh Valentine."

She pulls the dress out, runs her fingers over it, before slipping the bracelet on. She stands up and folds Valentine in a hug. This way, Val can't see a few tears plink down her nose.

Val hugs her back tightly. It's a long moment before she can say anything, her own eyes sparkling slightly with what just might be a few tears.

"Love you, Mara. And worry about you."

Mara pulls back. "Don't worry about me. I'm not the one who's doing the things that are stupid...and.."

She sits on the table, heavily. "When did I start caring so much, Valentine?"

Val sits on the table beside her. "I don't know, Mara. Sometimes people find themselves caring in spite of themselves." She shrugs. "And really, I'm not doing anything all that stupid. I'm fine. I can take care of myself better than most people realize."

"I didn't mean you. I can trust you not to do stupid things, usually." Mara pinches her nose. "I just...ugh."

Val raises an eyebrow and puts a hand on Mara's arm. "What's wrong, Mara? Who's doing stupid things?"

Tahiri bounces over, holo-ball in hand. She would not presume to poke a Jedi Master, oh no. She might get in trouble.

"Mara! I got your gift!"

Mara glances up from the book and smiles. "I'm glad. You like it?"

"It's wonderful! I absolutely adore it." Tahiri is beaming. "Thank you."

Mara shuts the book and smiles broader. "I'm glad. Sit. So how are you?"

"Okay, I guess. It's kriffing cold here." Tahiri takes a seat and idly tosses the globe from hand to hand. "How about you?"

Mara flicks the book slightly, looking faraway for a moment, closing all her worries and emotions off. She glances back at Tahiri. "I'm fine."

"Mmmhm. Right."

If a Jedi Master doesn't want to talk about her feelings, that's her decision.

"Did you get presents for Chris-mas Fete too?"

Mun eyes Val-Mara thread.

"No, but it's fine." Mara shrugs. "It's not a holiday we do..."

Frankly if her son doesn't get used as an innocent in Montparnasse's plan, that'll be the best gift.

Illyria's in the kind of mood which is usual for her.

It's anybody's guess what that means.

Currently it seems to mean that she feels like speaking to the Jedi, and so she stops with a characteristic head-tilt and eyes the berries.

"They do not have those in my world." she remarks, by way of hello.

Mara glances up from her book and floats a berry in the air. "Strizzleberries. From Kuat, I believe. Only able to grow them there."

Illyria isn't really that fascinated, but she nods anyway.

"I wonder why I still call it that -- my world. It ceased to be that ages ago."

She takes a seat, without waiting to see if she'll be invited. She's a god, she doesn't care if invited or not.

"Has Lobo given you any more trouble?"

Eh, Mara could care less if she sits down. Mara sits up a little straighter. She always feels like a naughty child when Illyria's nearby.

"No, I haven't seen him." Mara says, flicking at her book. "And how have you been?"

Small talk with Illyria. Fun.

Illyria makes some gesture that could be a shrug. Perhaps.

"I am as I always am. Minute changes from day to day make no real difference."

Yes, especially when those minute changes involve getting possessed by hellvoices, Illyria.

"Oh aren't you lucky?" Mara says dully. "I wish, at the end of the day, I could say the same thing."
