Since the last time she'd been in, Max had aquired an interesting collection of injuries. Bruises on her forearms, a bandage wrapped around her left bicep, faintly spotted with blood.
She doesn't really comprehend the whole bedrest thing. Instead, she's staring off out the observation window.
Poke the X5? Not literally, of course...

"Max? Are you okay?"
They hadnt talked a lot last time, but he was a doctor, and always would be.

Max has always been wary of doctors. Always would be.

"Look, Max. I know you can take care of yourself, but, that wound should be properly treated and the bruises checked out. I'm not asking you to let down your guard, justn to let me do my job. Please."
His voice is gentle, quiet and simply put.

"Okay. Just remember of anything feels off, let me know. I have worked with a lot of enhanced humans. I am used to adjusting my thinking medically."
He smiles then.
"Other than this, how have you been?"
no subject
She shrugs slightly. "...Busy."
no subject
"I'm sorry? Several of my teammates are enhanced or mutations. In order to work with them and save their lives several times, I have had to adjust my thinking. I am used to it."
he nods.
"Busy is good, I hope.."

"Sounds like your busy is like mine. except mine usually ends up with me being thrown through walls rather than being shot."
His eyes sparkle with humor.

"Dodging skills fairly good?"

"Good. Having friends and acquaintances get shot is never all that fun."
He smiles.
"I hope it doesnt happen too often, then, business."

"I'm sorry. Mine hasnt gotten that bad yet. There is a lot of violence there and sometimes it erupts into outright confict. Since I have been here I have discovered that a lot of insanity happens here too."
He watches her for a moment.
"what happenned?"
His voice is quiet, not pushing.

"Under the circumstances, I am sure you did your best. And anyone would be slightly off in that case. Are they both okay?"
He is concerned for her, but also for them. He is a doctor and always will eb one at his heart.

"Sound like a few of my teammates."
He nods, taking her word.
"Good. I assume the brother is from your world. Is the ex as well?"

"Understood."
And he catches some of the subtext, but merely nods. he treads carefully trying not to pry.
"I hope they will both be okay then."
He wouldnt want to be either of them with her mad at them.

"...You know anything about virology?" Hello random segue.
no subject
"Yes, I do. I had to learn rather alot about it recently in my world. A major runaway virus was trying to eradicate my species. I eventually found a cure with the help of several others."

no subject
"Didnt feel like it. Took me years to do so. And before I did, I watched a lot od friends die and the cure... the cure cost a life as well."
He is still bitter. Angry both at the Legacy Virus itself and at Piotr for taking the choice out of his hands.
