[OOM:

tell us what we did wrong
then you can blame us for it
turn the clamp on our thumbs
and sow a doubt about it

CW: mid-game spoilers; televised death by mental shutdown. This is the point where shit starts getting real; October's rarely kind in Persona games.]

The door opens on Yusuke's dorm hallway, which is hardly unusual for his entrances to Milliways. At least it's not the screaming-hellscape-subway again. What is different from usual is that he barely seems to notice the change in his surroundings, moving as if on autopilot until he bumps into a table. Then he veers for his usual in-bar seat, near the Observation Window.

Except he can't seem to find his usual enthusiasm for that view, either; it's not long before he changes seats. The last thing he wants to do tonight is watch the universe explode on infinite loop.

He ends up near the fireplace, simply staring into the fire. He hasn't even gotten out a sketchbook. Something is definitely wrong.

Yusuke barely breaks his stride upon realising he's entered Milliways instead of his dorm room. Very well; he can set to gathering his thoughts here just as easily, and he'll still have plenty of time to make certain he's ready for tonight's mission.

He'd spent a very fulfilling afternoon out with Akira, taking in a marathon of art films at the Port Island movie theater, but this evening has rather put a damper on the mood so far. Ryuji wouldn't stop talking about some girl he met at the station, which for some reason meant pestering Yusuke all through dinner for 'tips on talking about art'; the deep scowl on Makoto's face, and the fact that she excused herself as soon as she was done eating, suggested she had yet another in what seems to be an ongoing series of arguments with her sister about rejoining their team. Haru said that her father plans to drop by the dorm tomorrow with some kind of news - whether it's about the pair of other Persona users who locked them in a bunker at the beginning of the month, or a new recruit, or something else entirely, she didn't know. Both fall term and the next full moon (and with it, another great battle) are approaching far faster than anyone would like.

And to top it all off, apparently a few more civilians have wandered into Tartarus, and Akira would prefer to fish them out as soon as possible. How this keeps happening when Gekkoukan touts its security as a school campus, they have yet to figure out, but it's rather tiresome. Yusuke had been hoping to wrap up his summer homework this evening.

Perhaps, now that he's happened upon Milliways, he'll have the chance when he goes home. For now, though, he settles into his usual seat near the observation window, drawing a patchwork of the view in front of him and a highly improbable tower soaring into the sky.
