Jack sits in one of the chairs by the fireplace, singing to his daughter in a language long gone. The words would seem familiar, though: all lullabies, are their core, are about the same thing.

This was why the cat had no qualms about darting across the room to sit by Jack's feet, stretching up as high as he could get without picking his paws up off the floor.

He lifts squeak up with one hand and settles him carefully on his lap, near the baby. "Say hello, it's okay."

It was right about then that Sarah realized he was missing and blinked up from her book. She smiled crookedly as she padded over, settling onto the end of the couch nearby, curling her feet up beside her, "I think she's the first baby he's seen." A pause, "And hi, how've you been?"
