Jack sits in one of the chairs by the fireplace, singing to his daughter in a language long gone. The words would seem familiar, though: all lullabies, are their core, are about the same thing.

Love you, precious child. Love you.

Jack smiles as Gil kisses him and moves the baby into a more comfortable position.

An insistent tug by tiny fingers makes him break away with a laugh. "Was I neglecting you? I'm sorry."

"Love love love love love you too," Jack coos and kisses her round cheeks and her rosebud mouth.

[gris_bug_man]

"Love you so much, Georgia. So much," Gil coos in turn, kissing her head.

She wriggles and coos, pleased. This kind of adoration is exactly what she likes.

She has two fully grown men wrapped around her tiny fingers. Not that either would complain about that.

Gil tickles her, delighting in her giggles.

"I wonder," Jack says softly, "if her domain isn't going to be love. Do you know what I mean?"

[gris_bug_man]

"It would make sense, given the effect she has had on those around us," he says contemplatively.

[jack_inthegreen]

"A lot of it is just that she's a baby," Jack says. "Babies inspire a sense of . . . wanting to nurture, wanting to protect.

"But, yes. Consider thing effect she has . . ."

[gris_bug_man]

"It is more than simple instinctive response, though. When Sara first told me of Barry's fate, she was crying, naturally. Georgia reached up, touched her face, and she stopped." He kisses their daughter's head. "I did not have the same effect."

Jack looks at Georgia and smiles. "Aren't you a clever little thing," he murmurs and kisses her again. "Are you a goddess of comfort, my love? Of happiness?"

Georgia positively beams. Comfort love care safety comfort love care love you love papa love auntie love uncle love love love!

"Yes," Jack murmurs, "you are, my sweetest thing." He looks at Gil.

"She's very enthused about the idea, I think."

[gris_bug_man]

"So be it." He lets Georgia take his finger again.

"Love is a precious gift."

[jack_inthegreen]

"So precious, and there's not enough of it in the world." He coos to Georgia, "And that's what you will bring, my love, isn't it, remind people that our hearts are precious treasures and must be treated gently."

[gris_bug_man]

"What better gift could there be?"

Georgia wriggles again, delighting in their adoration. Love love love love love!
