(no subject)

There's a Carl in the bar.

Wary, somewhat nervous-He tried to call Jack and-surprise the phone was busy.

So he's come here looking for him.
But he's up for finding anybody.

Here's someone Carl might find interesting. Mark's at a table, camera parts all over the place, cleaning them, with his leg propped up on a chair.

Mark looks up. Ah, oblivion. "Well, it's a portable one. Actually, for my time, it's old-fashioned. And big. There's actually cameras that I've heard of the size of business cards." He grins. "You into film?"

Holy shit. Mark blinks, swallows, then calms himself. He can handle this. Really he can. He's met lots of people in the bar. This is just... another person. Digging in his camera bag, he comes up with a business card as well:

Mark Cohen
Today for You Productions: Bohemeian Films

Eleventh Street and Avenue B, NYC

"I'm Mark. I'm, well, I make mainly documentaries."

Mark shakes his head. "No. It's 1999 back home. And let me tell you, it's -hell- to get theatres to take films not from a major studio." He pauses. "But, well, I had a film that really took off, and people liked what they saw, so I started distributing other films who didn't want to go with a major studio. The people who create and make the films get the money from them, not any sort of bigwigs." He shrugs. "It's a novel idea, even in my time."

Mark -grins-. "That must have been awesome, being part of film just starting up. I've read so much about that, the ideas that got people started with silent films, and then into the talkies, and then colour."

Kris is getting food from bar and smiles as she passes.

"Hi." She smiles, it's been far too long since she's met new people. Over three million years in fact.

"It's better than what I have to eat back home." She looks to the plate, chicken caeser salad.

"Would you like some?" Kris asks, she can always get some more food later. Kris then blinks at the card and takes it. "Kristine Kochanski."

Mun? Is weak.

So there's a Jack entering the bar. It's quite obvious he's just come in from the city, because he's wearing his hat and coat, both of which are dusted in snow.

"How long's it been since I've been here last?" he asks, removing his hat and brushing the snow off his shoulders.

"I just left two days ago." He unbuttons his coat. "Mom's been following me everywhere. I half expect her to ask me to move back in with her and dad."

Like that was going to happen.

"She's got several of 'em lined up, Carl," he says, exasparated, and maybe a tad bit sadder than usual. He removes his jacket and heads over to the bar. "Buy you a drink?"
