Into the Bar comes Barry. He's tired from having stayed up just a bit too late playing poker, but the excitement of the day is enough overcome anything like lack of sleep. And of course he's smiling. not often that a hero gets to be a groomsman for another hero.

For now, though, Barry calms himself and ponders what to have for breakfast.

He smiles.

"I wanted to talk to you about getting onto the medical registry. Kevin Fawkes."

Barry extends his hand and his grin gets a bit friendlier. "Pleased to meet you, Doctor.

"We always have room for most doctors. What's your speciality?"

Kevin shakes hands warmly.

"Until recently, I was working in neurosurgery. But I did a few ER rotations when I was younger."

"That's good. We tend to need a lot of that level of work. Though having a specialist isn't a bad thing either.

"We don't really have a formal rotation here, so anytime you think you can check in in the infirmary, you are welcome to."

"I will. Good to be officially on board."

"Officially...then you've already lent a hand?" Barry is sure he knows the answer to this.

"Once or twice." He shrugs. "I was there."

"Then you've probably met either Hank McCoy or Simon Tam. They seem to be the closest thing to regular doctors here.

"And with Hank getting married today, he could use the break."

"I've met Dr. McCoy. Not Dr. Tam. I didn't know he was getting married, though."

"Yes. This evening. After which, I hope that if we can find other doctors to cover for him, he won't rush home from his honeymoon.

"So your timing si quite lucky, I'd say." Barry decides he could use some decaf, so he signals a wait-rat.

"Where are you from, Doctor?"

"San Diego. Uh, assuming you're from Earth."

"Yup. From Central City, Missouri. Though most versions of Earth don't have my city.

"I'm trying to recall the last time I was in San Diego...maybe eight years before I died. For a convention. Lovely city, though the convention was held in a pretty ratty hotel downtown."

Kevin smiles.

"I always liked it, growing up. Had an apartment in the Valley, later."

"The Valley?"

"In California. I didn't get to actually spend much time there, though - I was working at a place out in the desert and it was easier all round to stay there most of the time."

"My best friend had a similar deal. Lived in a place called Coast city, not far from LA, but worked at an aircraft firm not far from Edwards Air Base. But he was the kind of guy who even when he wasn't flying from place to place was still racing. Sometimes even acted like he was faster than me." Barry smiles at the memories, and then realizes Kevin has no idea what he's talking about.

"See, I was a super-hero. Called the Flash. Fastest man alive."

"You can run at super-speed? As a natural ability?"

He looks impressed. All the people with special abilities in his world were experimental subjects, after all.

"Not entirely natural. I was struck by lightning and bathed in electrified chemicals. That altered my body chemistry." He leaves out how the Speed Froce connects to it. Which he doesn't get, anyway. "I take it there are no super-heroes on your world?"

"Not in the way you mean, no."

Barry raises an eyebrow. "How so then? No costumes but super-powers, maybe?" He's encountered that more than once here.

"...well. Hank mentioned you were on security. Did you see my note about my brother?"

"I porbably did, but it would help if you told me who your brother is." Yes, Barry should recognize the last name, but the notes sometimes come and go.

"Oh - Darien Fawkes."

[ooc: hometime, back in about an hour and a half]

Barry thinks back. "Oh. The guy with the fits of rage, and the invisibility powers? Yes, now I remember.

"I assume that whatever lets him turn invisible interferes with the rest of his body chemistry?" Funny how the idea of someone turning invisible seems perfectly normal.

"It does. But my point was... the closest to superheroes we have in our world are experimental subjects. Like Darien. He's actually the most successful I'm aware of, though of course it's possible I just don't know about them."
